Vandas should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
F3 in Macau

Well the Carlin teams third car will be driven by a little known Australian, Peter Hackett.

Hackett has taken out this years F3 Australian championship and has received two rewards for his efforts.

Firstly he has been offered the third drive at Macau, with Carlin Motorsport.

Secondly he is to undertake a test with Alan Docking Racing team.

Tell me what you all think about the F3 race at Macau, and if a little known Australian bloke can make it big with a team like Carlin,

thanks guys,

Cameron

I remember Pete Hackett from his time in FVJ.

He will find doing a one off race very hard, even with CArlin, it will be a big jumb up from what he has experienced in Aus.

The test withADR could lead to a full time drive, it's romoured that "the Doc" want to put together an all australian team, perhaps withJag paying for James Courtney in the #1 seat.

Takuma,

Yeah I was speaking to a guy here that used to work in F3 teams years ago. He said Macau was always a lot of un because it was the time of year that you had to write off all of the race cars for insurance purposes.

He said it used to be a ballot at Macau, an invitation only race and all the drivers were drawn in a ballot to each team.

He was working on Russel Ingall's car, and said that it was very funny those races. They had a lot of fu apparently. Anyway back to the story.

Hackett will not know what hit him, with all of the extra power, all of the gun drivers, and not much experience n the higher powered cars. Although he has had experience in our Formula Holden vehicles, which are faster than F3000 cars.

Scott Dixon used to race these cars in Australia, and it has stood him in good stead.

Anyway I wish Peter Hackett all the luck in the world, as he is 26 and if he can make it, it proves that anyone can.

Are there any other Australians linked to the drive with ADR? Maybe Ryan Briscoe?

What do you think?

Cameron

Being and Aussie, I would of course like to see Peter Hackett do well. I wonder how he'll do though, Macau F3 is a big jump up from Australian F3, in competition and cars - Australian F3 doesn't permit current model cars. Anyway, I wish him all the best.

I'd say that qualifying in the top 20 at Macau would be a real result for Pete, but its a great chance to prove he can Hackett at the top level. (Very sorry, I just couldn't resist)

Has anyone got any further info on Macau?

Please let me know.

By the way Hackett can next be seen in the Honda Indy Young Guns race in a couple of weekends time.

He is up against drivers under the age of 25 from categories from F3, to FFord, to V8 Supercars, Karts and GTP.

I went there one time when I worked in F3 and we finished way down but still got shed loadsa prize money - I think we all ended up with 500 HKD each and we went to a casino and I turned mine into about 2800 as did a couiple of the other boys so we went to Bangkok for three days on the way back. My then girlfriend was not impressed...

ghinzani I already like you. So everybody this is what racing is all about. I loved it as a races and now as "working man" also. It is great; I don't know about others, but I want to hear more stories like this. :-))))

Its been goi9n on since at least the 60s, was run for formula Atlantics in the 70s then became the F3 race to win in the 80s - I think they used to give the winner a Superlicence, dunno if thats still true? I wonder if it will be won by a Japanese for the first time this year? In the modern era that is... will Sato go now hes a Jordan driver?

Since the early 80's its been the best F3 race in the world, where all the top European teams and those from Japan meet, a kind of unofficial F3 world championship.

I don't know who will coming this year, but I hope that Sato will be among them. Last year Pizzonia deciding not to attend as not winning might damage his reputation, really lowered my opinion of him.
