Terry S should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
For this weekends Ipswich round I notice that 7 of the 22 starters are Torana V8's. That is basically one third.

Does this indicate it is just becoming Formula Torana.

Just replicating the era the cars are celebrating as they keep pushing the eligible car window into the late 70s

How long until VB Commodore's and XD Falcon's can compete?

Just replicating what happened about a decade ago when the LJs were filling Group C fields around the country...I called it the Torana Trophy...

As a Torana fan I'm loving the MCM !

I recall when there was one, or maybe two, in the early days. Now there's heaps.

I guess teams are once again realizing what an awesome package (power to weight) they could be.

It goes in waves doesnt it? The Mustang was the car to have in Mr Bowe's hands, and the field bought/built Mustangs. Mr Bowe switches to a Torana, is instantly competitive and the field follows.

I would really like to see Mr Bowe in a suitably built 911 with all the trimmings..

In the last race yesterday why were Johnson and Bowe so uncompetitive and only finished 3rd and 4th?

Is this due ro success penalties?

Johnson mucked up the first turn and dropped a bunch of spots didn't he?

On the TCM website I noticed the official results for the third TCM race at Ipswich include a couple of "strange" cars:

Mercury Camaro
Ford Firebird
Ford Torana

The TCM website is not very good in general.

If you click on the "View All Results" that's below the current series leaderboard on every page it takes you to the championship standings for the 2014 season...

That's what happens when you can't find enough old parts for your car, and have to make do with parts from other manufacturers......

Scary to think its 37 years since the Rock incident...

If the TCM mob decide that XD Falcons can run, and presumably VB Commodores can run, it is a whole generation shift for the current field...

Will that also open the door to RX7's and turbo Bluebird's too?

Maybe, from memory TCM has a list of "approved" vehicles so there must be some kind of process.

The first RX7's were released in 1978, and the first of the 910 model Bluebird's in 1979, same year as the XD.

When they started racing in Group C, and how competitive they were in Group C, is irrelevant in TCM

Moffat's Mazda won it's third race anyway...

Personally I don't want this, leave it as the 60's and 70's. That's a big part of the appeal. If you go to XD's and VB's what next? Group A Jags and so on?

I'm inclined to agree

Remembering that the main reason TCM exists was born out of pre-1973 Group Nc class and wanting to run sponsorship and some more reliable parts.

But the more that they move the goalposts in terms of years, they will have to open the floodgates.

It's a shame though in a way that no way has tried to build a BMW CSL "Batmobile" to run in the class at the moment, that thing could be very potent.

the point being you cant just race a 1982 model bluebird, you have to race a a 1980 model bluebird, same with the RX7 and thus those cars were not as developed as the later versions

The bodies were effectively the same, not that that even really matters as far as TCM eligibility goes.

How developed they were is irrelevant also when it comes to racing in TCM, completely irrelevant.

Do we really want the big wings and expensive turbo engines that were unreliable in the day with millions of dollars of factory money and parts support, let alone now...

1984

The Bluebird evolved over its 4 year lifespan... Mr Gibson still looks after one from the 1984 year for its owner, in full house spec...

How is that at all relevant to an expansion of the TCM eligibility criteria?
