Say 'Goodbye' to 250cc...

FIM is moving forwards with the plan to replace it with the 600cc formula.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68698

the 'Clash of worlds' between MotoGP and SBK should be interesting.

No, don't do that, governing body! Is the gap between 250cc and 800cc too big or something for the transition to MotoGP.

Such a shame to destroy 60 years of history. It's not as if the Superbike guys who switch to MotoGP have better rookie seasons than the 250cc graduates. FGSport should see this as a direct attack on their product, which is primarily intended to crush them. Otherwise, why not say 500cc four-strokes, to at least ensure a different product to World Supersport?

I think I will just leave the smarter people to talk about this issue. I don't know that much when it comes to Motorbikes.

But that doesn't mean that I won't come back to this thread to see what people have read.

Gerben24 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Maybe the people with the powers should merge this thread with this thread.

There is a not a bottomless pit of money to go around these days.

Forcing a company like Honda for instance to build three different types of prototype 4 Stroke engine just simply isnt reasonable in this day and age.

The old 2 stroke was a great idea. 125 X2 is a 250, and 250 X2 ns a 500. Thats what Yamaha, Cagiva and Suzuki did in fact, their 500 was simply two 250's running a common casing!

If the new rules are run right then the bikes can and will be prototypes, but you have to realise that making Honda create a whole new 600cc engine when they already have one is stupidity.

With this new class you could possibly have all four Japanese in there, plus maybe some more.

Does the new draft include things likw twins or triples or is it only 4 cylinder?
