Don't mention trucks! Last time I was at Donington in 2001,mainly for the 2CVs,we were not allowed to watch from the outside of the circuit, apparently the trucks might reach the enclosures.

Only the Observer and Flaggie stay trackside at vunerable posts (Cage) (Old Hairpin) etc. Everyone else retires to a place of safety behind the post. Believe me you do not want to be in the way of these things once they leave the black bit.

Surely the name of the meeting be, "When Trucks Attack!" - have done trucks at Brands in the last few years and they are mighty machines, but they do make one helluva a mess. I have been told the story about one leaving the tarmac at the top of the Craner curves at DP, it then proceeded to obliterate the wall and everything behind it! Pity the FIA trucks aren't coming over as was originally planned, but this still looks a good meeting.

Little to do when the trucks are racing - just watch! Marshals only go out once the truck have stopped - all of them not just those that have fallen off!

Tend to have good close racing and well worth going. Head-on for the rolling start is something else. I would suggest you stand so you can leave quickly to the right if it gets out of hand!

Perhaps this is all part of the plan to remodel DP & create F1 friendly runoffs?

Ad I SAW it.

Said truck landed at my feet with a heavy thud!! How ever driver jumps out of said truck with a grin and says to us "I've never seen orange run so fast!!"

Great fun though.

Geoff Price. One of the Pembrey marshals.

Funny thing was he had a certain Stuart Oilver land at his feet a week later at Pembrey!!

Cynic should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I remember the first truck meeting I ever did at Donny. I was at Redgate, and when the big boys came out we evacuated so far back we were practically in the Sunday market. Several spectators wondered out loud as to why we were so far back. They soon found out when Mr Horner came into the gravel trap at full-tilt...
