wowowowowow this is truly amazing. The pictures give a real feel of the period. A big thank you to all contributors to the thread it has filled in some gaps in the cars history that were frustratingly missing.

The effort that Rob and the guys of that era must have put in to thier racing is greatly understated most of the time but they are the true pioneers of motorsport.

not only impressive cars but what a good display of the fashion of the era.
The trousers that the young lady holding the flag in post 107 must have been something else.

Hi there,

I've been busy for a while and haven't visited the forum for quite a while.
Seems the forum has an interesting new member with a lot of inside knowledge and photographs.

Crash TAP rally

In those days the cars weren't equipped with a full roll-cage but just a rollbar over your head.
Because of the crash the front window shattered but nevertheless Rob decided to drive the car home (back to Holland) without a front window. After just a few miles the rear window blew out because of the built up pressure in the car. With the help of some skiing goggles he drove all the way from Portugal to Holland.
I never expected to see the photographs of the crashed Z in post #98.
It's very nice to see the above story accompanied by photo's.
I hope phhok has more photo's and information to share.

Hi you all,

Time to join in. I followed this thread, the first pages, by coincidence stopped for a while but what I see now is just great. Thanks Ben!
I knew there must be photo’s around somewhere. But this is beyond my dreams.
Let me introduce myself, although a few members of this thread will know me.
I thought my nickname was Z-point but somehow it went to zpoint. The first one, z-point.nl leads to my website of works Datsun Z rally cars.
I drive around in a replica works car a do my best to keep the story a live.

yes the pics are great and I like them

the missing pieces are when the car came over to this country and I am not sure that I will ever find them.

I am putting the jigsaw pieces that I have together and will post it up as soon as I can

ps some idiot put the brake master cylinders back on the car incorrectly when he rebuilt it after his wifes accident in the car which was the reason for the rear end locking up under braking.
I have taken him to one side and given him a good talking too and he has promised to take more care in future

Hi zpoint, thanks for the offer but the translation is not required because it is only the english that are too lazy to learn another language. Thankfully your countrymans english is better than he thought.

Hope to see you in June
