(These figures quoted here are from today's official govt daily update. Full .pdf document linked at the end of this post.) 74.1%of people over the age of 16 have had at least one dose nationally as at 23 September 49.3%of people over the age of 16 are fully vaccinated +337,285 doses recorded in the last 24 hours In terms of Victoria VIC 75.4% 1st dose 45.9% 2nd dose https://www.health.gov.au/sites/defa...ember-2021.pdf That link is from this page: https://www.health.gov.au/resources/...september-2021 I believe those numbers will escalate with a number of employers now embarking on a "No Jab No Job" policy to entice those yet to be jabbed at all, with deadlines IIRC end October / early November Last edited by E.B; 23 Sep 2021 at 10:14. But in relation to the tennis, the deal-breaker is that they will not do quarantine again, while the England cricket teams (Ashes, ODI and 20-20) will not come if their partners and families cannot join them during their time in Aus.

'The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is expecting details from Cricket Australia on how the series will take place - including quarantine arrangements, provisions for families and if players will have to live in a 'bubble' environment - this week. That information will then be presented to the England players, who will make individual decisions on their participation before the Ashes squad is announced in the first week of October.' In terms of F1, will Roscoe be allowed to travel? |

Vaccination rates are irrelevant to this issue. It is completely about whether the government will allow quarantine free entry.
Apparently Johnson was talking to Morrison this week at the international conference they were at.He was discussing exemption for the English cricketers and their families.According to reports Morrison told him that not only would there be no exemption but that families were not going to be allowed even if they did quarantine. The English cricketers have been told by the ECB that they will contact them with the final rules on 26 September-this Sunday. Already the overseas tv companies are reading the tea leaves with no broadcasters in either England or India prepared to televise what will be a farce. As far as you can tell Stuart Broad and Dan Lawrence are the only current English test cricketers who have said they will tour under the current arrangements. F1 and Aus Open tennis are simpler in one respect because they only have to go to 1 state but Morrison could take a hard line banning them from entry and probably will if he sees political advantage in it. What happens with cricketers after Sunday will tell part of the story but things will really hit the fan with release of F1 calendar which is scheduled in 3 weeks time on 15 October. |

That’s a savage schedule. I count 5 double-headers and 3 triple-headers. Must be close to the point where teams will have to employ 1.5 or even 2 lots of personnel and rotate them.

People are confusing doubleheader weekends with back-to-back weekends.

Some will be “double headers“ using the sprint format which is being reviewed and revised… dropping one of them into a 3-in-3-weeks schedule would be madness.

Westacott winding up the spin again and obviously trying to convince the government this is the last hurrah for the AGP.

Australia to reopen borders to international travel
'Australia has announced the reopening of its borders to vaccinated tourists and other visa holders for the first time in almost two years. "If you're double vaccinated, we look forward to welcoming you back," Prime Minister Scott Morrison said. The reopening, on 21 February, will be welcome news for many sectors including international education.' |

Theres a lot of money to be lost, and a state and federal election this year.
Melbourne will go ahead now unless something really dramatic changes in the next couple of months The federal election must be held (by law) before the end of may. and a 6 -10 week campaign is normal. Our current Prime Minister is now in trouble electorally, partially due to his mis-handling of Covid. It would look bad if he has to close the borders again and stop the GP The Australian international tennis open went ahead in January, with a lot of controversy regarding 1 entrants covid status (the aptly named Novak said "No Vak for me!" |

Horner is warning of freight delays affecting F1 later in the year, because of global supply chain issues and widespread freight delays, as well as freight costs doubling, due to the repercussions of Covid-19 and the Ukraine war.

No doubt logistic experts are working to prevent this, but outside of stretching the calendar out to give more time between events held geographically far apart, I am not sure what all can be done? Its not like there is a luxury of being able to pre-stage stuff (such as teams have 2x of everything and they leapfrog events) as that would be crazy expensive. Richard |

Richard, I think that, to some extent, Formula 1 does have more than one set of certain stuff that is sent by ship to the fly away races. This would necessitate that duplicate stuff is required when there are back to back races. This is, of course, in addition to the number of 747 freighters that are used to carry other equipment and cars to these races, as well as the FIA course cars.
So, in theory, most teams may well have three sets of certain stuff that they require for a race. |

Although I can see the possibility of problems I'm also wondering if he's angling towards a raising of the budget cap as he is also mentioning the increased costs. (Let's face it, they've already had a few expensive engine failures this season. ) |
