It looks good and will be a good starter series for those kiddies who want to step up from karting or just those who want to have a go at racing. It gonna be a lot cheaper than t-cars and with the 750MC running it it should be great!

I'm definatly looking into it! Its either that or the Stock Hatch Championship that I think I may be able to afford to enter in the next year or so.

Sheepy and Maximus...looking at your profiles you are too old for saxmax. Its for 14-17 year olds. You guys will have to head into stock hatch if you want to race.

Apparently the entry fees are extremely expensive (plus 400 notes for double header rounds), therefore maybe it's a series only for super rich kiddies..

I don't know what the entry fees are - but it is still going to be considerably cheaper to do than the alternatives.

I wouldn't have thought so. The 750mc usually has reasonable entry fees. And Ian is right...the alternatives are much more expensive. A T-Car will set you back best part of £50k before you've even thought about licences and entry fees.

don't think so dan...i did have the rough figures around somewhere but can't find them right now. it's definitely a lot cheaper than t-cars, and should still be affordable not just for the rich ones....not dirt cheap, but do-able

Having looked at the site, the entry fee for the Brands double-header is £410 (most expensive track hire, I think). The standard single-header fee is £245.

Bear in mind that there is additional track-time associated with this championship, in that for each race there is an additional 15-minute untimed session as well as one 15-minute qualifying session at each meeting.

There may also be other additional costs associated with running this championship - but there may well be other additional driver benefits as well.

See I don't think it's that bad at all (compare it to what else is around) - and the cars aren't that expensive to buy....ta for doing legwork Ian

It's a shame you're too old for Saxmax Maximus, that category was made for you. I think it's full name is SaximusMaximus.

This probably gets asked all the time but.......what do you guys think is the best championship for a first timer to consider entering? Saloons or single seaters, I'm not particularly fussed which although I would expect that single seaters cost much more than your stock hatch etc

Single seaters depending what you want to do (for fun, hobby whatever), but I'm biased because I love them....

I guess a lot of the cost depends on availability/price of parts when they need replacing.

Thats for looking that up Ian. Yes the extra track time they are being allocated, so they can do some learning will push the price up, but I think it is fairly reasonable.

As for which is cheaper...probably saloons...but single seaters don't have to be expensive.

I think there must be a higher insurance issue. Entry fees are still far higher than the caterhams whose Brands entry fee is 345 and that includes 2 half hour races.. so more track time in total.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out over the year.

I've struggled to find a cheaper series than Vee (age 16+ it says on the box), stock hatch s the cheapest saloon box series around but damage makes it more expensive.

Saxmax (SaximusMaximus) is a great idea, far cheaper than T-Cars and Ginetta Juniors, plus the cars can then go on to be used for Stock hatch. Asks the question whats the point of T-cars and G Juniors?

Stock Hatch can be very good value but if you want to be at the sharp end then you will need to spend some a good few quid. If you look at the cars for sale you will see an average stock hatch for say £2,500 but a championship contender will be nearer £10,000.
Personally I am biased as I love single seaters, but Formula Vee represents very good value, with big grids and in reality is probably the same cost as Stock Hatch, although the cars do cost around £5,000 to buy but you can rent them from about £350 per race meeting.

Ah I see! (I haven't looked that closely into it compared to stock hatch) I though with you saying kiddies that it would be an ideal starting point for them!

I'd have to put SaximusMaximus somewhere on the livery if I could enter!
