F3000 - No support race

F3000 is fast becoming a very popular series with racing fans accross the globe. However , as it is only a support series to F1 they must race on saturadys and therefore don't attract as many fans as it potentially could. I think that the F3000 needs to breakaway from the F1 train either racing on the Sunday too to bolster audiences or become totally independant.

HA-HA-HA-HA: That has go to be the funniest thing I have read here all week. So F3000 needs to break away from F1 and start racing on a Sunday as the crowds will be bigger. Yes - let's do it. Let's get back to the good old days. I remember standing in the pit-lane at Magny Cours and there were more people in the pits than in the grandstands. Or shall be go back to Nogaro where there is slightly more cars on the grid than in the car park. We are all entitled to our opinion, but please, think before you write. Break away from F1 and it shall be BILLS SUPERMARKET NORDIC RACING, not Coca-Cola!

Sorry I don't agree here. When F3000 was a stand alone series, apart from Pau and Birmingham, competitors outnumbered spectators! The races now follow F1 qualifying,I have noticed stands full at 1pm half empty at 2pm.So even people already at the circuit with a ticket are not interested.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm enjoying F3000 more than F1 at the moment, if only because there's more variety and the fact that MINARDI GET POINTS!!!!!

Or you might say: STODDART GET POINTS!!!

Or you might say: STODDART GET POINTS!!!
Mostly what the F3000 team is originally the European Formula Racing of Paul Stoddart. And that's not all, because the manage of the team is made (I'm almost sure about that) for the guys of Kid Jensen Racing.
If you want to know about one REAL Minardi F3000 team, it might be Sighinolfi Autoracing. Since its first year (1999) on the Formula 3000 Italia (now Euro 3000), Sighinolfi cars were "supported" by Minardi, and wear the same colors the Faenza team used during 1999. This year is competing with Salvatore Tavano and Alex Piccolo.
(Also it might explain why Giancarlo Minardi talked with Gabriele Lancieri, ex-Sighinolfi racer, after the errors and stops-and-go of this driver on Barcelona)

...and the only reason there were more spectators than competitors at Pau was because the pit area was so small that half the cars couldn't take part!

Very funny!!
I was at Pau 1981,85,86 & 92,and can confirm there were large crowds.Maybe they were there for the french supporting events.Racing & practice starts at 7am each day and on Saturday continued untill
after dark. The number of starters is due to the short narrow nature of the circuit. All the paddocks were open to the public when I was there -no pit garages-paradise!

Very often at Pau almost the entire field would have been lapped by the end of the race.
