Megatron should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sebring 1995 - who won?

I wasn't watching at the time but I continually hear Dereck Bell talk about how he wasn't "Allowed" to win. Granted this comes right after the dubious slap down on the WSC Porsche so politics were perhaps a problem?

Why does Bell think he won? I have to ask this: Is any of the confusion releated to Andy Evans?

1995 Sebring 12 hours was won by the MOMO Corse Ferrari 333SP of Moretti-Theys-Baldi . Hope this helps .....

(retires to personal library to search Janos Wimpffen's "Time and Two Seats", sounds of pages turning)

Reply pending.

1995 Sebring 12 Hours was won by the #3 Scandia Ferrari. (Don't remember the driver line-up, but I know F. Velez and A. Evans were on it.)

The only controversy I remember was that the second-placed Auto Toy Store Spice-Olds(?) protested the Ferrari, claiming Velez had gone over the maximum driving limit. The protest was either dropped or dismissed. I don't know if Derek Bell was part of the driver line-up in that Spice.

Perhaps it's 1997 you mean? (Evans penalizing the Panoz because he couldn't pass it, the screwed-up safety car situations, etc.)

According to "The Chronicles" (T & 2 S, JW pg 1836/7), italics by thebear:

1st #3 F.Velez/A.Evans/E.van de Pole/P.Gentillozi Ferrari 333SP
2nd #9 A.Wallace/J.Lammers/D.Bell/M.Shirazi Spice-Chevrolet SE 90

At sunset, 1hr after the rain stopped the Ferarri led the Spice (interval not stated). The Spice pitted for repairs to the headlights. At that time a conflict with the official scoring began. They thought they had been on the same lap as the Ferrari but the Official version stood. With ~90 minutes remaining Lammers was apparently 1 lap + 16 seconds back after a heroic drive. With ~30 minutes remaining another caution period occurred and Lammers was in for a splash & go while Velez stayed out, slowing to conserve fuel. Lamers unlapped himself but Velez needed to stop for a splash and go, apparently retaining the lead.

Thanks, bear.

I got my information from an old RACER magazine. I did not know about any scoring controversies during the race. Looks like I'll have to pick up a copy of T&2S at Sebring. That's if I don't blow my money on old Le Mans videos.

BTW, love the quote at the bottom of your post.

Me too. That's why I have kept it for so long. I used to change it about once a month, but have not found anything I like better.

T & 2 S will cost ~$275 at Sebring IF you can find it. I will be leaving for Sebring this Sunday but can provide a discounted (direct) link for ~$220 delivered in US. Link will be provided to any 10-10ths'ers who PM me.

One week to go until Sebring! I'll be there Wednesday through Saturday

The wonderful people at Auto Brass usually have a copy of T & 2S for sale at their trailer, along with old Le Mans yearbooks. Might have to pick up a copy. I just hope the guys with all the videos are there(can't remember the name of their business, and they weren't at Daytona...), so I can get some old Le Mans videos.
