If I recall correctly, kristensen a few season ago revealed that clutch was necessary to shift to R in his audi.

Oddly hand clutches have been legal in LMP1 since 2014. That's one piece of F1 tech that hasn't made it into the TS050, as Toyota's F1 cars doubtlessly had them.

Maybe because there is no reason to? Compared to an F1 car the LMP1 is a bit wider in front of the driver. Also I could imagine the feel of the driver could be better because there is no mechanical connection to the hand clutches (unless the clutch pedal is also only 'clutch-by-wire').

It may have both, as a backup.

I think the clutch (pedal) is used to engage the engine from hybrid-only leaving the pits.

Toyota uses the extra paddles on the back of the wheels for wipers and headlight flashers.

Well already Vergne and Kyvat have been linked to returning to their old team, why not Buemi too? In fact why not all ex STR drivers? :P

Who would think that when every car has the same power, drag, downforce, and fuel efficiency they would all be close.

The good thing is they agreed to the changes. Which apparently they could have refused.

Just something random but Jose Maria Lopez is doing the top endurance league on iRacing... in a Porsche 919. I will be racing in there too.

Anyone wonder how Buemi is doing F-E in the Nissan and WEC in the Toyota? I guess since he was at Renault previously it's not a big deal since they're in a joint partnership.

Having one driver representing rival manufacturers does looks weird on the face of it, particularly to us Europeans. But it's relatively common in Japanese racing - there have been Super GT drivers for Nissan who compete with Toyota in Super Formula for example. And Andre Lotterer famously raced against Toyota in WEC but with Toyota in Japan.

The Alonso situation in Indy car has NOTHING to do with the situation. HPD can not supply enough engines now to expand their roster much, and unlike European reports THEY ALONE hold the right to refuse engine supply, not Honda Japan. IF he were to sign for Andretti/McLaren partnership they could not use Chevy engines for his side within one team. As it stands currently in the latest interviews actually with HPD and US Indy reporters, there had been NO decision regarding extra HPD engines for Indy and McLaren Indy had not created the rule yet but every team protested even the possibility of I've team knowing both engines. HPD would not give up the chance to be the team attached to the Triple Crown no matter what has happened before. If you brother otherwise you have ZERO clue about what motivates Honda and HPD to race, and vengeance isn't in that list at all Having read a few updated articles this evening, the HPD problems with supply are likely resolved. If Alonso is on the grid at Indy, it will be Indy only and in a McLaren/Andretti car which means HPD engines. Last edited by broadrun96; 20 Oct 2018 at 01:47. |

If you don't think Honda Japan is connected to HPD in America, well I don't know what to say. I think there's a connection since Honda in Japan is the head company with everyone else under them. Going back to last year before the test at Bahrain there were reports about Honda having issue with Alonso testing for Toyota. He even wore non-branded overalls if you recall. I think it's just interesting that some companies will give their blessings to race with a competing manufacturer and others aren't too keen.

I don't think participants should have saying over regulations, no matter who they are... The only exception should be when party/parties X request for temporary waiver for something reliability related, and everybody has to agree to it before it's implemented... That's reasonable because it not only requires democratic OK from everybody involved but is also not performance related... You know, like the ECU plank fiasco in 2010 (and Larbre showing the others middle finger lol) |

So is Toyota testing at Sebring over the winter? You know especially after that August fiasco?
I am aware that there are two whole days of extra testing provided for all teams prior to the regular 3 practice sessions, but is that enough for something this team team has never experienced before? As in, not Formula 1 level of track conditions? |
