Assuming I the drivers right, Papis in the #01 and Magnussen in the #27 were running 1st and 2nd with seven laps to go when they had an incident.

it was probably because of that famous driver, known in Stock car circles, as 'J. Debris".
The announcer, just after the yellow was waved, may have made the call, "Debris on track"... ![]() ![]() |

According to the GA race notes, there was a car stalled on course:
5:32 p.m. - FULL COURSE CAUTION - Lap 96 - Full course caution comes out due to the No. 02 Lexus DP stalled partially on course. The No. 01 Lexus DP takes over the lead, followed by the No. 27 Lexus DP and the No. 2 Pontiac DP. http://www.grandamerican.com/race_no...etails399.html wasnt there, didnt see it, but i dont think they doctor race notes now |

5:22 p.m. - FULL COURSE CAUTION - Lap 91 - The No. 06 Corvette stopped on the back straightaway causes the full course caution to come out.
And that's the other one. Now don't call a Vette debris. ![]() |

Howdy folks, long time no see.
If I'm half as excited watching the race on TV as I was watching timing, then next week will be an afternoon well spent. Wallace said in the post race interview at grand-am.com that he was "willing it to happen," so was I. The smart driver knows when the aggressive guys are having it out. Don't think the points are yet posted, but I figured out the points system and I have Wallace ahead of the 54 and 81 guys 65, 60, 60 respectively. Pontiac 70, Lexus 62, BMW 56, Porsche 48, Ford, 42. Citgo's investment in the Hispanic and female community has shown immediate results. Duno is another example of how the DP class produces oppurtunity for the ones who have been without. In her case, a historic win. Speaking of oppurtunity, Kevin Doran went through many cars trying to find one that would hang with Bob Riley's design, now he builds them. I've got 5$ U.S saying Mags hit Papis first. BTW, would someone give me some directions on posting links? Thank you. Last edited by Chevyguy; 29 Feb 2004 at 23:50. |

If were you at the race, you have inside info.
![]() I'll be more than happy to mail you five bucks after I see it for myself. All bets are off from hence forth. ![]() I sure hope those guys don't pull that BS at Sebring. P&M better make sure that they aren't track together, or else it might cost P&M money. ![]() I tried you guys' advice and I couldn't find the button, and pasting didn't work. This is probably the fault of this iMac. People, just get a Dell or something. ![]() Last edited by Chevyguy; 3 Mar 2004 at 07:06. |

The incident, regardless of who hit whom first, is unfortunate...
From what I saw, the Riley/Ganassi DP was up front most of the day.... and they are 2 for 2 in pole positions... It's only a matter of time, guys....but I think it will be a Ganassi/Riley and Crawford fight for the season title this year... Lots of races lft, but I like what both teams are showing thus far... |

You're right about Ganassi Tim. They were 1-2 for most of the race before the drivers inexplicably threw it away in both cars.
The Crawford, though a solid car, was no match for the Rileys. If not for a fortunate yellow after Pruett stopped and before Duno stopped, they were a lap and a half back. Andy did his usual superb job and was there at the end to accept the gift from Papis and Mags. If you want a true challenger for the Ganassi squad, try the 'other' Riley (Suntrust..). That car with Angelleli (Sp?) driving has been the fastest car without question at the 2 races thus far. If Taylor can keep up and they fix the teething probs, they will dominate a race or two this year. My question is with the Borcheller/Barber car. What happened? They were nowhere all weekend!! Very fortunate to finish in the top 5 and that took retirements by 5 superior cars??? |

I agree with you FullThrottle....
If I remember correctly, wasn't Bill Riley in their pits at Daytona... The Rileys go a long way back with that group of people, especially Taylor.... But they were very fast in the first two outings.... |

Barber got hit from behind on the first lap and spun in turn three. So the #54 basically started the race from the back of the grid in 41st place at the end of the first lap.

Didn't know that. But the rest of the race was rather lackluster as well??

Well, 41st to 8th (before the leaders crashed) isn't bad, and the #54's lap times were very comparable to that of the winning car. Spin the #2 at the start instead of the #54 and maybe the #54 wins it. I think Borcheller was catching up to Wallace in the second half of the race, but he was laps down when he took over the car.

I guess that's my point Danski. How did they lose all those laps? Certainly not from one pit stop for a tire change? They qualified badly as well and never looked to be able to hold the leader pace from what I saw on live T&S. It seemed they had some big prob all weekend.

they also had to replace an engine before the race, it might not have been up to snuff.
