That is not why he said that. He wasn't seriously doubting Le Mans ability to stick around. At the time every question he got was about retirement, which hadn't been annouced, it was a little was of saying "I might stick around a very long time".

Thanks,

I was wondering about that.

'tis the trouble with old reports, sometimes the context can be lost. Maybe if the reporter used a winky

I'd like to see Michael back at Le Mans (no matter how much he was paid!), but I doubt it will happen. I can't see Ferrari there either. Or, in the short term, another FIAT group car.

I agree. If we are wishing for more manufacturers at Le Mans, I would have to think the Japanese manufactuers are more likely than Ferrari/Fiat.

It also seems like most people on this board agree Michael is not coming to Le Mans for a little while.

One of the Ferrari chaps was asking teams about LMP2 in some detail (engines in particular) at Le Mans this year

As far as I can tell it's a marketing masterstroke by Audi - what better way to get some late season exposure for the R10 TDI than to latch on to the biggest story in motorsport?

It's very good, very cheap PR.

Yes, Audi is just using the hype of Schumacher's F1 retirement.

This rumor is free advertising.

If that's the case,

[Bull]
Michael Schumacher is being considered for a drive of the Team Dangerous Vauxhall Belmont V8 at Donington on November 4th in the EERC Dunlop V8 Supercar Series.

If he won't do it, then Damon Hill is being lined up for a second chance, with Nigel Mansell waiting in the wings...
