Your modelcar collection...

Since I'm collecting 1:43rd Le Mans models and we were going slightly off topic in the Panoz thread.....here's a modelcar thread. I can't remember reading such a thread (or I'm wrong).

Maybe you've got some very interesting models in your collection, maybe your collection is really weird or possibly you're looking for some special items.

If you collect sportscars and GT's in some scale (maybe 1:1 ), feel free to let us know your "scope" and maybe someone can help you fill up the gaps in your collection.

Maybe this is not a very specific point of "discussion", but it's meant to be some kind of inventory thread. I'm curious if there are some passionate collectors around here...off you go !!!

My own collection contains about 130 cars from Le Mans 1970 up to now, preferably winners, dutch drivers or just models with nice liveries. I buy most models finished (die-cast), but some models I build myself. Provence Moulage and BBR are my preferred kit makes, whilst Sparkmodel and Minichamps are my favorite built model manufacturers.

You should check out the Armchair Enthusiast forum. This thread is more in line with that forum. There are a couple of threads in there on this topic.

The 2003 JML Panoz LMP1 will be released by IXO later, and is already available as a kit from Provence Moulage. The 2003 GTR1 is also available from P.M.

I don't know about models of the yellow and black versions you mention. Maybe you should buy some "common" models and spray them over. You only miss the decals then...

Okay, but do you think we can continue this thread since it's especially focused on sportscars and GT? I don't really want to read about someone's Williams FW21 F1 model... Or dinky trucks...

Thanks by the way for mentioning !

Just a suggestion on other places to look. But I'm not a mod, they get to choose whether the thread stays or moves.

I collect all Le Mans winners, and all kind of Sportscar/GT cars. I also have a special feeling for the "portuguese driving cars".

I didn't know what the "armchair" section was, so thanks again !!! I'm sure the mods will be gentle and let this special GT and Sportscar one pass, won't you mods ?

I collect LM cars, mainly cars from the late 90s up until now really both 1:43 scale and 1:18, although I do have more 1:43 scale models, no particular type really I collect both LMP and GT models, although I do have more LMP models than GT. My collection is rather small at the moment though due to limited space, only about 25 models in total, I do however have lots of LM paintings, most of which are limited to just a small number worldwide.

I try to stay strong and leave the 1:18's in the shop. They take up to much space IMO. 130 43rd's don't even cover more than the half of a wall in my (small) room. But it's so hard....I want the AutoArt Bentley, and the Minichamps Calder CSL, and the 934 Jagermeister and and and........

By the way I plan to spray a Panoz yellow and green to make the westward car, need to find a cheap model of the works car first to spray over though!

Yeah but , the decals make the model . Im having the same problem , im trying to build a Brun Jagermeister 956 from Spa 1986 , the problem is that that year Brun used a stylized number and I cant get them or make them . Anybody got any ideas ? Another opening for some enterprising decal company would be to make the decals from the ALMS , differant color numbers and series decals . That way peeps could quite easily buy a LM kit and with some simple mods can make a car that runs in the ALMS .

I got a few theame's ..... Panoz GTR through LMP , Courage C60's , Riley and Scott MK.3 . Joest's big winners Sebring Daytona and LeMans and my biggest is for Hans Jochim Stuck , about 60 for him . I also got a nice piece of walnut wood signed by Walter Brun and want to display the 5 cars from LeMans of 1989 , the only problem is that I am missing the number 17 car Repsol Brun-Larrauri-Pareja . Those cars also had stylized numbers too !!! Oh and a 1/24 scale Corvette C5R with photoetch transkit ..... very nice detail work to be done there

Maybe you haven't had a look at www.supercaldecals.com ? ...you can create your own decals that way. I wonder if anyone tried them yet, because I haven't.

Good remark on the Brun Repsol car. I think this is one of the nicest liveries and want that one as well !

Here's a really nice picture of such a car:

Well, I set out to just collect Le Mans winners but branched out into Le Mans winners and interesting Le Mans cars...... Hence the 300 or so diecasts sitting waiting to be redisplayed when we finish our extension (including office with plenty of wallspace ;-). Must admit that I like the Bizarre range by Spark and Ixo (on the whole). Favourite cars at the moment are the 1950 Cadillacs, the Type 52 coupe and "Le Monstre". Also have a soft spot for the WM Peugeots of the 70's and 80's.

I collect Group C cars, mostly 1/43 diecasts(partucularly Onyx/Quartzo/Ixo Porsches...), although I've got a few built from 1/24 plastic kits as well (Tamiya Nissans, Toyotas & Porsches, Hasegawa Porsches, Toyotas and Mazdas, Protar Lancia LC2, Heller/Airfix Peugeot 905 etc).

I've probably got 50 or so sportscar/GT models, but I collect models on several different themes, which gives a total collection of more like 5-600....

The major theme is 1950's to 1980's rallycars, which has led to me picking up a few Le Mans versions of things like Austin Healeys and Triumph TR2s to go with the rally versions, and I've also got an interest in the 1950's/60's Tour de France events, so have a number of TDF versions of Ferrari 250 GT and GTO etc- I suppose this kind of bridges the gap between the rally and sportscar themes....

I've been collecting for about 10-15 years, although I've been a modelmaker ever since I was a kid, and it's probably got a bit out of hand- I was recently sorting out my loft, and was finding models I'd forgotten I had....
