Just a guess, Tim. With the loss of the three West Coast races and Texas II for whatever reasons, (i.e., NASCAR Cup scheduling, etc.), I'd think the IRL might be looking to warm weather sites for the beginning and end of the season, rather than the middle.

Beginning....maybe....like early March or mid April (depending on when Easter is in 2006)....maybe after Motegi & before Indy gears up???
End....No....They do not want to compete with the NFL for TV viewers anymore....although Labor Day weekend would be an interesting prospect.....but how hot is it in Texas in late summer like that??? |

You're probably right on more like the beginning than the end........the idea of the condensed schedule is not to fight football and the World Series and the NASCAR Chase.
