Honestly I think so. He's been repeating his doubts about his Supercars future for so long that finally it has to be time for it. He's achieved more than anybody else and has got nothing more to prove. I believe 2020 will be the year to move on.

yes, but if you look a Ford Au/ Ford UK it doesn't have a V6 in its range.

but in the US , it has this,

Back in the petrol-loving United States, the Fusion gets a new twin-turbo 2.7-litre V6 EcoBoost with around 325hp. This engine might be a hard sell here in the efficiency-minded UK so it’s not yet known if this engine will make it over here.

Why should DJR-Penske and Tickford pay to homologate a car they have no association with?

Especially since Supercars have already confirmed Falcon FGX will be eligible until 2020. (If I am not mistaken.)

What a disaster. The sooner Supercars get on FTA, the sooner sponsor and manufacturer interest will increase IMO.

Yes. Not even approval, but Ford are not going to pay to homologate a car for a series they do not officially compete in... in that case, why should DJRTP and Tickford pay to homologate it? what do they care if they keep racing the trusty old FGX Falcon?

Because the Falcon isn’t something you can buy at the dealer today, difficult to leverage companies into buying them for their fleets because you can’t, and the Ford boys & girls are already complaining that the ZB aero is better, so they may have to homologate yet another aero configuration for FG/X (which costs money..) when a change in bodyshape to a car currently being sold likely isn’t that much more of a stretch.

DJRTP and Symbol (the race ream formerly known as Prodrive, FPR and stuff..) have strong dealer links, with factory owned/blessed Ford retailers, who would also be aware that a Falcon winning might not see a jump in Mondeo sales.

Murray Carter wasn’t exactly swimming in factory millions when he helped homologate the XD all those years ago, what’s different here?

If this is true, the question should be why did Supercars sign off on ZB aero parity testing that is not on parity with the FG-X. The Ford teams shouldnt need to reconfigure their aero and then rehomologate

The difference is, historically Ford Australia have valued motor racing as a marketing tool (although at different times even that could be argued), but times are a'changing. No one cares if you race a Falcon or a Mondeo when they want to buy a Festiva or a Kuga or whatever they're called. Ford sees 'the Ford Girl' and a link with the National Breast Cancer council as the future in market leverage, and not Penske, Tickford or even 23 Red. They maintain their Geelong Cats sponsorship but you wonder how long that will last now they've departed the local area.

Jump on their website and try and find one thing mentioning race cars; unfortunately motor racing looks to be irrelevant to their marketing model even with performance cars like the Mustang and Focus RS in their range.

And lets face it, its their money and their business to do what they like. Just because us as motor racing fans don't like it doesn't make it wrong.

while its not clear on dates, a team sponsor past 2019 it would seem

One thing is different and it is the only thing that matters.

Murray Carter did not need Ford permission to race an XD Falcon, Penske and Tickford do need Ford approval to race anything under that banner in Supercars
