Testing restrictions? Is HRT one step ahead?
HRT (as you may already know) have rebuilt Lowndesy's roll-over car, from a few years back, as a three seater demo-lap/ corporate ride car. A mate of mine went around QR the week before Xmas as part of a Biante dealers sponsored ride day, being driven by Brighty and Mezera. He believes that there was alot of set-up changes and the like going on throughout the day, with the times coming down to within 1 second of last years race times (not bad for an over-weighted 'mock' race car).
Would this be classed as a breach of testing regs, or is it just another way that HRT uses rules to a better advantage than other teams? I would be interested in hearing the thoughts of some of you more experienced regulars out there. |

I don't think they would gain much advantage from these drive days. Remember, they are running on Bridgestone tyres during these laps.

But that doesn't stop them testing new componants, and stuff like that. Apparently they were pretty keen to make changes to the car on the day.

I don't see how their can be such a difference in two different types of tyres!
Can someone please explain this? |

They are breaking rules to start with if they came within 1sec of race pace, you can only perform to 80%. Second you are not allowed to run or download any data at all. I am not knocking you Mick but I think your mate could be exagerating a little.

You'd be surprised how many teams have Sports Sedans.
It's interesting that one 'leading' QLD had already book QR for about 17 days in 2003, and that was before Xmas! Q: Does Dunlop make 17inch slicks that could fit onto a supercar, but not be AVESCO spec? |

It used to be a good day Subzero, but nobody seems to bother anymore, at least in my house.

Its funny. I made a post last year about this topic and certain poeple around here set about cutting my opinion down. I believe they are milking everything out of these "RIDE DAYS" it was said when this first come out about PR2 that the times Skaife was doing at Calder Park would have put him on the front row of the grid. You cant tell me they aren't using this as past of their test program. Opps that engine just went bang, how long did it run for with those test parts in it?

Is the car logbooked as a sports sedan? A certain black-liveried team has one....
I never doubted it at all Lowdown, indeed it was in AA and TWRA were proud of their beastie, which means something wasnt quite right And Sevi... your birthday is a special day, you should enjoy it... you dont get many in a lifetime... |

Sorry Smokin I was confused, I thought you meant your husband was planning a suprise.
I will answer that now anyway, NO he wouldn't. In 6 years I have had 1 bday and 1 xmas present from him. |
