Well he's leaving some giant footsteps behind isn't he? Not always an easy person but Bob had a vision and plenty of passion. The recent years have not been kind but wow, what a life he's lead and what a legacy he's left behind.
RIP Bob.

Sad to see a true legend of the sport have such an inglorious end to his career.

Also sad to see that he and Rodney never reconciled after the split and court case.

When I was a kid, I knew him to be the tyre dealer and was amazed at the racing legacy he had. Certainly a builder and a titan for a bulk of his life.

I wonder what the implications are for Calder and AIR now he has gone

Rodney has been controlling Calder and AIR for some time - I think he may even own them

An amazing contribution to Australian motorsport. I hope he is recognised and celebrated at the V8 1000 this weekend and at the Australian Grand Prix in March.

Rest in Peace Bob.

R.I.P. Bob, a life lived at full throttle.

Will Hagon made the comment on ABC news that, at its peak Bob Jane T-marts we’re selling a million tyres a year.

The at track commentators mentioned it several times across the weekend, but there wasn’t a ceremony per se.

Rev Coleman mentioned Mr Jane in his evocation.

The two T-Mart Carreras had a nice touch.

All the cars carried Bob Jane tribute decals

Kim Jane also did demo laps in a replica of the winning GT Cortina Jane shared with Firth

A good write up in Auto Action this week on Bob Jane.

Certainly owned and raced some very nice machinery.

Last drive was in 1983, anyone know where and what he raced in his last drive?

Calder is not about to be turned into a housing estate.

It is located under the flight path for the 3rd runway at Melbourne Airport which is currently going through the planning phase.

The Planning Overlay on the property prevents it from being used for housing, it could be used for industrial purposes BUT a lot of dirt would have to be removed to make it suitable for any sort of use.

Great write up in this month’s edition of Oval Express about the Calder Thunderdome.

Certainly a mix competitors, from the likes of Barry Graham, Max Dumsey, George Elliot through to the good old boys from the USA.
