Stolen Trailer and Ralt F3 car

My good friend Richard Trott has asked me to post on the forum regarding his Ralt F3 car that he races in Classic F3. I was chatting to him at the historic show on Saturday, shortly afterwards he was called to return home urgently as it had been stolen!

He sent me this information, therefore if any racers out there are offered the car, parts or the trailer, or hear anything, please would you let me know and I'll pass it on to Richard.
Thanks, Andrew.

"The trailer was stolen at about 11am, Saturday the 25th February from the drive at my home in Beaconsfield, South Bucks. It was a Brian James Sprint Shuttle. The one with the fibreglass box. I think they were only wanting to steal the trailer and are professional trailer thieves rather than someone wanting to steal racing cars, but inside the trailer was my Formula 3 Ralt RT 1, plus 40 sets of gear ratios, and seven spare wheels and tyres. Also a couple of Chevron B43 noses with ‘Diavia’ on them.

The trailer serial number is SJBTSSGBP3W013300.

The car is painted in white and does not have a Chassis plate but has 7616 faintly stamped on the front bulkhead and the suspension is of the early type. I think the Toyota engine number is 8123 and did not have the air box on it at the time. The gearbox has a Mark Bailey rebuild number, which I will find out from Mark what it is.

The wheels are a set of Compomotives (split rims) for the Ralt with mounted wets (used). There are a pair of fronts, 4 spoke Brabham type split rims with new wets to fit the Chevron. Also a Compomotive Ralt front."

I do sympathise. These scum bags have no morals. Two of my friends have had new Brian James trailers stolen recently. Trouble is they are probably up North. It is a well known fact that the banger boys drive south at the weekends, on the lookout for trailers, and then take them up North, and vice versa! All we all can do is put extra chains and locks on them, to make their life more difficult.

I was saddened to hear about Richard's RT1, as he had gone so well in it. I hope for his sake that it was insured or that he can claim under his household policy.

Oh it's banger boy for sure, you go to any banger meeting and you can see them all with hot trailers. The race shuttle is the most popular, its much better than a truck with a craine that you can load two cars on and use to pull out your bent cars all day.

I'm very sorry for anyone who has anything stolen, there has been a lot of banger transport lorrys taken recently, I'm sure most stuff is exported. Dont go slaging off a group of dedicated racers because you have a problem with them obviously.

I agree with you, you can't go labeling other groups, banger boy's are in this game for the same kicks as the rest of us, they just have less dosh. Chances are some idiot has exchanged this trailer for fifty quid, & the fifty quid has long since gone up his/her nose. The stupid thing is there is some bloke somewhere with an RT1 absolutely bricking himself cause he does'nt know what to do with it or how to get rid of it, lets hope it gets found in one piece

Heaven's above, the PC brigade have made it onto 10/10ths! Wake up and smell the coffee guys.
Yes, there are keen racers on the ovals that spend serious money on their sport and do it seriously, but you need one hand to count them. The hot rod guys cars can cost up to £30k, which is more than many regular saloon racers on the circuits spend on their cars.
However, the less unscrupulous of the banger boys deserve their reputation. Do you take a baseball bat to your race meetings, so you can fight in the paddock??!?
Someone will be telling me they go to church regularly and confess to the Holy Father!!
I also know of a Mini racer who smashed up his shell at one meeting, and acquired a new one from the local Sainsbury's car park the following week. One careful owner, low mileage! There are people like that in our game as well!

I agree with Al, scumbags and low-life. We all work hard to take part in our sport, so it makes it even more unacceptable when these morons "permanently borrow" other people's equipement. Nuff Said!

PC not at all, but I'm fed up with being seen as second class. I dont think you know much about oval racing. To say you could could count the good guy on one hand is out of order. Take your self to Wimboldon one Sunday night and see what real racing is all about. Remember you may have to queue to get in, something the long track fan may find a bit strange!

I was merely quoting the experiences i've had in my local area, we've had no trouble selling our tyres to banger blokes, even had offers for our trailers without them being stolen when we said no, maybe we have a higher class of banger racer in our area, or is it that there trailers look better than ours anyway.

Anyway from my experience chances are if it had gone from my drive, said race shuttle would now be being converted as transport for the local hare coarsing team not to carry a class 1 mini

None of this chat is getting the poor blokes car back

Okay, don't let this decend into a slanging match. Let's not throw accusations around, this is not the time or the place.

It's very sad that the owner has had their trailer and car stolen, and I think in respect of that, we should not let this thread decend into a "short circuit vs. long circuit" affair.

Trott should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hello,
just a quick note to say that Richard Trott is my Father and he is devasted about the theft of the trailer but more importantly, the theft of his Ralt RT1 F3 car. After acheiving so much in that car, the fact that it was stolen from our home is extremely personal to him and painful for all our family. Please all keep your eyes open for it as the police have not bothered to so much as visit our home in investigation and anyway the racing world is more likely to realise its personal and literal value. We thank you all for your support immensly, please keep in touch,
Thanks.

Trott, may I suggest that you contact the Classic F3 Championship run in France (google for website) as it is possible that the car may turn up in this championship.
Plus how about putting an advert in the local rag offering a reward for its safe return.

Good luck

Probably better off getting it in as a news story if you wanted to.

I note the comments made by others, and whilst some may view my previous remark as "tarring a certain community with the same brush", I nevertheless ask people not to be so naive! I had my garage broken into in 1995 and lost everything; years worth of tools including welders, compressor etc. It cost the insurance company a considerable sum to replace it all. Luckily I had the common sense to pay insurance for such a likelyhood. For what it is worth, Plod did sweet FA and didn't want to know either. Richard;s car looks the business, in fact I have seen it out on the circuits and would love it to be able to afford something similar myself.

I hope and pray for Richard's sake that he gets it back due to the diligence of the racing community. All I would say though, and I am NOT being negative, is that years of having a father-in-law, and many mates in the serious crime squad, have made me look at the bigger picture, when it comes to crime. (I was involved in the biggest drugs case in the UK, some years back, and enjoyed see peddlars of that evil stuff banged up for a very long time)The people who stole the car knew what they were after. It will be with someone who needs Ralt spares, or was in the market for a classic car. It may even be in a container on it's way to Europe or the States, by now. Anyone who competes in European F3 or similar should keep there eyes and ears open. This car is too well known that should anyone turn up at a UK circuit with it, it will have someone knowledgable recognise it straight away.

Let us all be sensible about this, and be vigilant about our own equipment.
