Lydden Easter Rallycross - Volunteering

Dear All

I am sure the SEMSEC Chief Marshal Adrian will not mind me copying what follows from the SEMSEC forum:-

"Most of you will be wondering why you have not received an availability form from Anita this year: the BRDA has decided this year to run their events around the country with a Chief Marshal local to the circuit. I have been asked to perform this duty at Lydden for the above mentioned meeting.

If any of you who read this are interested in marshalling for this event, please call me on 01304 823962, or e-mail KathandAde@aol.com, with your name and address and I will add you to the list for tickets. Please say whether you are able to do both days or which of them you can attend.

The dates are 23rd and 24th March. Sgning on Sunday from 10 am, Monday from 07:30. Apart from a couple of specialised jobs I allocate on a first come first served basis, so get there early to be sure of the place you want."

So, who's coming to play?

Sorry I can't help you out guys - but hope to be there in an advisory capacity - i.e. shouting the odds from the other side of the fence with my kids

And I have the other reasons which I've made clear in the "Best sounding rallycross car" thread too...........

Startlines without Hog just don't seem right at Lydden. Should be a good weekend though but it does clash with the trucks at Brands so that could knock numbers of marshals and speccies.

Oh I'd love to do it. I have volunteered for the Trucks at Brands on the 24th March. If I don't hear from BARC then I'll come to Lydden.

....HOLD THE FRONT PAGE....BREAKING NEWS..... I was training at Lydden today and there is NO Gail's horsebox!!!!! "Sources close to the circuit" say that in keeping with the improvements to the Paddock currently in hand the horsebox had to go and although Gail was offered an alternative the offer was not taken up. Is this the end of Gail's breakfast?????? Should this very important topic have a separate thread???? Will the Easter meeting have to be abandoned???

Still thinking of coming Hog?

Just a quick update for everybody

The Lydden weekend is now coming together nicely and the operational plan now has considerably more green than it did a few weeks ago.

The team is now in place.

I am hoping to have tickets from the Circuit (The BRDA do not produce their own tickets) and these will hopefully be dispatched next week by Adrian the Event Chief Marshal.

I would really like to thank all of you who have already volunteered and to those who are still thinking about it we would love to see you.

I am sure you will have heard about the amazing work Amy Pat and others have done already and I for one am really looking forward to working there.

For the first time ever you are now able to volunteer on line via the

http://www.marshals.org.uk/ website. I hope this makes it easier for you.

Tony

I presume that if one has volunteered to Adrian that you don't have to put your name down a second time with marshals org?

Well I've signed up for Monday, but the fact that I'll be arriving in orange would make me hope that even if I don't get a ticket in time I won't get charged entry! It's not like I'd wear my Probans just to spectate is it lol

Apologies if I was not clear

There are 2 ways of volunteering

Direct to Adrian

or

Via the online system which is then forwarded to me and I pass it on to the respective Chief marshal.

I thought I'd do it online as I don't recall sending anything to Adrian.

So if anyone's reading this who dishes out the tickets - can I have some for the Monday please?!

It is sad news that Gail's has gone, I'll certainly miss my usual sausage baguette when I'm there in april, june, september and october...

Sorry to be a pain in the ass guys, but it's looking like I won't be able to come and play on Monday. Sorry to let you down but it's something that is out of my hands.

Hope you have a good day - play safe okay?

Only went to Lydden today, but feel sorry for you lot being stood out between the brilliant sunshine to snow storm etc! At least I could escape to the car But thanks....!

Having never been to rallycross before [and afraid I'm not keen on the idea of wading through the blue book], I presume the flag signals differ from normal circuit racing? I only remember seeing waved yellows, red flag and chequered flag today. Are there any others?

We do use the black if required, but the blue is rarely shown owing to the quick nature of the races - someone being lapped is scarce Suze.

Yes, apologies if anyone doesn't like me saying this but it reminded me a little of the short oval stuff I've seen before at Ipswich etc.....didn't realise before today how short the races were / small grids etc but I enjoyed it. Thanks for clearing that up though Hog
