brakedisc should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It appears there is lots to worry about in MSA Formula.

The Carlin team are taking this very seriously. 12 of a crew, two MSA cars, a training car (because the MSA cars do not seem to run for long) Artic, and a pile of tyres, I counted 120.

They will be visiting a circuit near you. Seen them at Rockingham, Knockhill and Croft.

There is already some great talent in MSA Formula... but where are the other 23 drivers
Pyro running Jessica Hawkins I believe.

Arden: Enaam Ahmed, Sandy Mitchell, Ricky Collard
Carlin: Petru Florescu, Colton Herta & Lando Norris
Fortec: Josh Smith, Dan Ticktum

First group test this Thursday, and a few more throughout March, before the first round.

There's a title favourite!!! Hopefully he won't pull of the Dan Cammish trick of winning literally everything...

Even with his extra experience relative to the others, I'm sure he will be given a hard time. I can't see any one person running away with this at the moment, there's some very strong talent in the field, unlike the last few years of 'Formula Ford'.

The fact so many are jumping over straight from karting makes it extra exciting. Dan Ticktum is particularly intriguing because he tested BRDC F4 at the end of last year and was more than competent in that.

Autosport saying twenty cars is possible. That's a far shout from the 32.

32 is the number of cars sold, not the number of drivers to fill the seats!

20 sounds about right. There are 17 confirmed at the moment and there were three more testing yesterday.

i think for each of the "big" teams you can take at least one car off the total car number for a spare chassis. the regs allow in-season testing within certain circumstances (or rather, excluding some fairly big ones) so there's probably going to be a bit of that going on.

they look like nice bits of kit. it's just a shame there's this stupid f4/msa formula naming issue.

It looks like it will be Norris vs Fielding. Expecting a few others to get involved though. Or should I say hoping...

Update

Arden: Enaam Ahmed, Sandy Mitchell, Ricky Collard
Carlin: Petru Florescu, Colton Herta & Lando Norris
Fortec: Josh Smith, Dan Ticktum
JTR: James Pull, Daniel Baybutt
Scorpio: Piers Hickin
SWB Motorsport: Jack Butel, Rafael Martins
Double R Racing: Tarun Reddy, Matheus Leist
Team Pyro: Jessica Hawkins, Ollie Pidgely, Ameya Vaidyanathan

Looks like Greg Holloway will be running with Richardson. Alexandra Marinescu has also tested with them but there's another driver in that car (Darius Karbaley) at Silverstone today. However I imagine Marinescu will be running in the series whether it's with Richardson or not.

Connor Hall has been testing with Falcon, MBM are testing for the first time with Jack Barlow today and Colin Noble Jr ran with Scorpio recently.

Arden have had Scott Malvern out in one their cars a few times. Nothing has been said about it but there are clearly photos on the Jakob Ebrey Motorsport website

It will be an interesting season with some very big players entering the championship. Carlin have looked very strong in pre-season testing. Norris is a driver I expect to see climb the ladder. Ticktum and Mitchell are also worth watching amongst others.

iirc the rules allow you to run anyone in a car outside of the testing ban too as long as it's not a competitor. seems to be a bit of a spending black hole that they should have avoided.

The formula is full of black holes. My worry is that with the same teams on board it will become the replacement for BF3 and we know how that ended.

BF3 ended due to the FIA's intolerance and them promoting 'their' way. MSA F4 is precisely what the FIA want. The only similarities are nations and some teams.

Anyone care to provide solid confirmation of who will be on the grid at Brands Hatch? The MSA Formula driver list misses at least one from their preview and I believe one from their entry for Brands? Anything for 18 to 22 I believe.

19 for the first event, as far as I know. Ameya Vaidyanathan is prioritising BRDC F4 on clashing dates.

Correct, 19 for Brands.

Arden: Enaam Ahmed, Sandy Mitchell, Ricky Collard
Carlin: Petru Florescu, Colton Herta & Lando Norris
Fortec: Josh Smith, Dan Ticktum
JTR: James Pull, Daniel Baybutt, Ameya Vaidyanathan
JHR: Sennan Fielding
SWB Motorsport: Jack Butel, Rafael Martins
Double R Racing: Tarun Reddy, Matheus Leist, Gustavo Myasava
Falcon Motorsport: Alexandra Marinescu, Darius Karbarley

Obviously Richarson, Scorpio and Pyro missing at the moment but they have been testing during the winter. In fact Vaidyanathan did all his testing with Pyro before switching to JTR.

Looking at the schedule and ITVs air time, not sure we'll see a live race from this series until Donington. R1 is on Saturday, R2 is before BTCC's first race and R3 is after the last BTCC race! Not sure that's a good move from the organisers...

But having said that, ITV will probably throw race 2s coverage in during the lunch break after the first BTCC race. They usually do that, albeit as highlights...

A report and testing results are here http://www.paddockscout.com/sennan-f...a-opener/25913

Twenty cars out today, so a promising start for the new series.

Looks that'll be down to 19 again:

Interestingly, with the exception of Fielding's JHR car, all the top ten were from teams with a background in BF3 or above.

MBM? (formerly Jamun Racing Services) They did a season in British Formula Renault, with Duncan Tappy, and then helped Scott Malvern for the 2nd half of his Protyre FR campaign a couple of years back but I don't ever recall them entering British F3?

What has happened to the Team Pyro entry?
