125cc tm racing

hi all i'm new to this site and have just purchased an anderson/tm 125cc gearbox kart, the kart i'm told is early 90's, the rolling chasis has been completely rebuilt, but the engine untouched. the kart runs well but the clutch is a bit stiff, my question is how do i identify the model of the engine the only info being L3 *001* stamped onto the crankcase. thanx
