smithhehehaha should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
A watershed moment for Macau GP?

Since the effects from Covid, Macau GP organizers are planning to host a F4 race at Guia Circuit to replace the traditional F3 race, which held for 37 consecutive years.

There is no global F4 competition (sure not this year's race has this component), but is there a possibility that the Macau organizers will keep the F4 race instead of running GP3-style F3 cars?

Depends if you think the spectacle of Chinese F4 will match the gravitas top end F3 can bring.

F3 or F4, doesn't matter they'll still be a big shunt or two.

A Regional F3 race would make more sense than a FIA F3 race.

If the FIA are being genuine then the Macau F3 race is over for a few years because they want to bring budgets down....

Asa should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
https://macaudailytimes.com.mo/macau...o-replace.html

The Times has learned from sources among the F3 teams that the reason this year’s event was canceled was the mandatory 14-day quarantine measures being enforced by the local government for all non-Chinese nationals.

The sources, which requested to remain anonymous, said “there was willingness for the majority of the teams to come to Macau,” which clashed with the “inflexible approach” of Macau authorities.

According to the teams, the event would be able to run if team members could present a valid negative nucleic acid test for Covid-19 and enter Macau. This would be followed by a “travel bubble” established between the circuit and the lodging facility, similarly to what happened during the season in Europe, which came to an end yesterday with Australian driver Oscar Piastri from Prema Team winning the championship title.

=================================================
It is the Macau govt who do not want to risk hosting the F3 race because they are worried that the "Travel Bubble" won't work.

No Macau F3/GT races this year. https://www.autosport.com/fia-f3/new...again/6650286/

You do have to wonder if the F3 race will ever actually happen again.

Don't the five FIA Formula Regional Championships all use the same machinery?

The Tatuus chassis is used in Europe, Middle East and Oceania.

Japan uses Dome, and Americas uses Ligier.

And there's four different engines: Alpine, Alfa Romeo, Honda and Toyota.

The watershed finally comes 4 years after my post. But we will have FR and F4 races in Macau during same weekend.

A session was held, in pretty wet conditions with the FRECA cars.

After a frankly embarrassing display of driving standards over the course of the FIA FR Macau GP by Alpine with Alfa Romeo or whatever we call it this weekend the race director called an emergency driver briefing this evening in Macau...

I did kinda like the Formula regional cars around Macau but the race was pretty poor, ive never seen a good race with this chassis. Not to mention the endless SC/red flag periods.

Race was already pretty much decided once they decided to start it under SC rather a standing start.
