V8Supercars becoming Future Touring
When Future Touring (then Junior Touring) was first announced, AVESCO was all over it, saying it was a copy of V8Supercar, we have the rights to all types of V8 racing and so on
Looking at it now, V8Supercars seem to be becoming Future Touring. A bunch of Controlled components, talk about 'hybrid' cars (eg..Magna) etc..... What do you all think? |

I'd have to say I disagree, I think the changes that get made to the series are just setting up future growth of the sport.

I dunno, I think Future Touring had better racing (if only there was enough cars) I think it did have a future, once.
I would like it if V8Supercars were the same as Future tourers, maybe add 5/6 speed 'boxes, and it would be perfect. I don't mind the Magna being put into the series, or the Camry (at least the Magna is AWD), V8Supercars hardly are an image of the road car, so putting a V8 in and RWD, it isn't that much difference (ok, maybe its is |

That's why AVESCO was all over it a few years ago- to keep it out of the limelight in case AVESCO needed certain aspects of its specs to liven up the V8 series when it started to get too dull. Now it can introduce certain things like hybrid cars.
Err... that would be this years VY Commodore, wouldn't it? |

V8 Supercars should adapt and evolve over time or it will die. Of course not all mutations are necessarily for the good, but such is life.
Since it seems to move further away from its "production based" roots, I have no problem what so ever with a Magna, Camry or anything else being raced (which I believe was one the the Future Tourer concepts). This will make parity even more of a drama - but that's part of the fun... |

So the de-evolution of the species continues? So what's next? V8s turn into Auscars, and eventually only Commodores compete?

V8 SUPERCARS as it is, is the most successful and greatest touring car series in the world ever. This is not speculation or one fans devotion, this is fact.
Changing it would be like shooting yourself in the foot (yeah ya know who Im talkin' to!). |

It also presumes that it is perfect and therefore should not change at all (?) This I can't quite get my head around. Change is inevitable - the trick is making the right change - how will history judge Blueprint, genius or...not? |

Future Touring vs V8Supercar, for the cost why wouldnt you go Konica? I think this is one reason the grids of Future Tourers are relatively low. Check out Sidebottoms car, it is an absolute gem.
