MHDT,

That part is correct. The problem is that there are current claims that chassis #7 was the 05 when in fact it was the 25 (Harvey/Parsons) that was sold to John Farrell!

Well, what ever happened to the Mustangs that Allan Moffat dove in the 60's and 70's?

Moffat and his fans have been lucky in that, although Allan has often expressed sadness he hasn't got his cars anymore, the majority of his 'star' cars have remained intact.

Boss Mustang, various Series Production Falcons, '77 Falcon's, Peter Stuyvesant Mazda's, ANZ Sierra's, RS3100 Capri etc...

What of his Monza? From memory it's been mentioned around here before what happened to it.

And on another Monza, what's this about Peter Champion owning the ex-Bob Jane one (in latest AMC, it says Brock may drive it at Goodwood next year). I thought it went to Alan Browne, then to Bryan Thompson who fitted a Supra body to it and from there to Des Wall?

It wasn't just a new body, the chassis was extensively modified too. I don't think there was much left of the old Monza after the Supra rebuild. Fifteen years down the road there would be even less of the original Monza left.

I had a look at that article, too. The only thing I can think of, is that Champion owns the other Bob Jane Monza that Brock and Alan Jones were supposed to drive in a couple of IMSA races in the mid-'80s. However, I'm pretty sure Brock never ever actually raced that car over here; Brock only raced the original, Pat Purcell-built Monza.

Whatever happened to Pat Purcell. After his stint with Steve Masterton he seemed to disappear. His motors always had heaps of power

He's still building motors. Sprintcar motors, amongst others. Very good ones too - as you can well believe.

IIRC, it went back to the States... it was a fairly special car in its own right I believe...

That Monza was owned by Daryl someone or other...it was then owned and driven by Graham Whincup. Steve Voight now owns it....

Champion does not own any Monza's as far as I know! As has been posted, the Bob Jane Monza 'grew' into the Supra that Des Wall has now. The 'other Monza' that Brock 'tested' was the John Rordion/Whincup Team built car owned by Darryl Siedel. That car went to the US but did not race there. Mike Imrie purchased the car and ran at the GP supports in Adelaide, Indy etc before using a lot of the components to build the SAAB that is still around. Mike still has the Monza body work if anyones interested! Whincup's (sister) car (that replaced the Rotex/Esseltte car) was run a few times in his hands before it moved on to Stephen Voight in Qld.

Moffat's Monza (DeKon 1005) is back in the US owned by Steve Sorenson and is under restoration. Steve's Moffat car is one of the most desirable (famous) Monza's still in existance! The Aussie lineage was Moffat / Paul Jones / Neil Brain / John Tesarario then to the US.

John White (Qld) had a self built Monza, don't know where that is - does anybody know? The Red Dawson (NZ) / Briggs / Griffen / Barnes car is apparently still around, it was mega-revamped by K&A in the early 80's and would be a massive job to bring it back to its DeKon 'Kit-Car' specification. I know the bloke thats got the McKee (NZ) / Pollard / Chambers / Geoff Munday / Imrie / Fing (Grant King built) Monza and I will be restoring that car to its IMSA AA/GT (1975 Tom Nehl spec) next year.

Cheers.

Yeah, that's what we thought too

Might be worth rustling Noonz up for the HDT ones though... although there are many here who have provided plenty of info on them.... still can't find the definitive answer on the 1984 VK's though...

2nd HDT VK finished its life as a VL update went to WA and brought back to Melbourne about 7 or 8 years ago, owned by a collector in the Eastern suburbs yet to be restored back to it's former glory

From memory 2 VLs were built in 89, but I can't recall if 2 were ever entered in a race. I think the last time one appeared was for Tim Slako and Geoff Leeds at Bathurst in 89.

The body kit that came of this car was definitely pink and white as I bought if off the guy several years back when he first got the car from WA
