Thanks. I could only understand your post because you use capital letters to help me.
FYI, I was referring to DR's fastest lap in Q3 (1:27.099), where he did have DRS issues. No it was not fixed. For DR's second run in Q3, DRS wasn't working as it should and he had to manually override the controls for the entire lap. So because of DR's DRS issues, MV had an unfair advantage. From RBR's official page: "In Q3 Max set an opening-run time of 1:26.684 but while Daniel again slotted into P6 he was this time a full four tenths slower than his team-mate with a time of 1:27.099. The lack of pace was down to a DRS failure on his opening lap. With the Aussie having to manually operate the system on the following lap he was unable to find more time" |

I love that we've got extremist nonsense on both sides here. It's quite amusing.
It wasn't fixed. "Unfair advantage". It'd be hilarious if the OP wasn't being deadly serious. Next Up: A discussion on how Vettel is now the worst driver in motorsport history. Said completely unironically by someone who thinks they're super-duper-ultra smarts. I actually like these comparisons as I find numbers and stats interesting. Anyone taking it deadly seriously is being a little silly though. |

But it does beg the question how the stewards assess these penalties. All this nonsense about not taking the consequences into account is as frustrating as the lack of consistency.

Wasn't a lot of difference with the Haas coming together at the same corner but that was deemed a racing incident.

I'd say Kimi had a lot more space and certainly more time than Grosjean had and the Haas twitch made contact inevitable. Kimi should have avoided contact. IMO of course.

Given that lack of consistency - should the chart reflect penalty discrepancies alongside DNF's? Just to be fair.

Well, Vandoorne's car is apparently undriveable, only finishing well outside the points, while Alonso rakes in yet another 4 points for finishing 8th with the same car.
I'm sorry, but it's getting laughable now with Stoffel. |

Sadly, I am forced to agree. He’s not fulfilling his promise at all.

Stand out performer at the half way point has to be Esteban Ocon. 8 and 2 in qualifying, and 6 to 3 in the races, with 3 DNF's. Perez with only 1 DNF.
Wonder what that stat would look like if Ocon didn't have those 3 DNF's? Renault looking to sign up Ocon if Mercedes do not have a spot for him in the next year or so. Renault will be a podium contender in 2019. Ocon deserves a factory drive and he is young enough to hang in for a couple of years until Renault come good. |

Vandoorne is in an impossible position of being Alonsos team mate in a poor car. Alonso is one of, if not the best driver on the grid, so he'll never beat him. So the best he can hope for is points, but Fernando some weeks only just scrapes in, so Stiffy VanDoorMirror will not achieve it as often.
That's possibly the worst seat in F1, because unless you're better than Fernando, you'll always fail. |

Alonso is good - very good - but if Vandoorne is to live up to his hype, he needs to be running him close occasionally. But he’s nowhere near.

I think if the car was more consistent, Vandoorne would be up there more often. It's just Fred gets the most out of the car, like he normally does. Anyway Vandoorne wasn't too far behind him at the beginning of the season

Not good enough for someone with Vandoorne’s reputation. Alonso is in his last few years - Stoffel should be nipping at his heels.

I don't know what his reputation is or what anyone has said about him. I'm judging him based on F1 performances, and I stand by my post - he's never ever going to do 'well' in that seat. Nobody will.
