Dixon tests Aeroscreen, though at first glance, it's not too dissimilar to the Halo. However, it didn't have the polycarbonate laminated screen in place.

I don't think the actual screen would be worth much in the sim, that needs on track visibility and cleaning/tear-off testing. Sounds like they are on pace for it to appear on track this fall though

That's one way to read it. I took it as RM has to file a story and there's nothing to report yet other SPM made a "substantial offer" but you know there was no way he was going there. Same as any claims about Ganassi, he's not going anywhere other than Andretti or Penske. As long as Cindric is in charge, to the extent Penske lets him, they will stay a 3 car with 4 at Indy only race team

A few things from Robin Miller's 430 am ramblings this week:
We’re 700 words into this column and no mention of Rossi’s free agent status, but all signs point to Alexander re-upping with Andretti and the team staying with Honda, which would be great on many levels for IndyCar competition. (All honestly as expected from everyone) Brad Sweet won $175,000 for 40 laps in a sprint car at the King’s Royale the same night that Newgarden earned $35,000 for 300 laps at Iowa. Think about that. (Run at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway, previous $50k to win but massively upped this year, on of the biggest World of Outlaws sprint car purse currently, it is the equivalent of Indy for Sprint cars it seems but packed house every year, ~30k or so) Heard some people were complaining that IndyCar started the race at midnight EST, but what they didn’t see was Sunday’s forecast for Des Moines. It called for rain all day, and with Mid-Ohio next up in the three-in-a-row schedule, it was imperative and smart to get it run. |

According to this, a full-time entry for McLaren in the 2020 IndyCar season is more likely than a one-off at the 500.

With Rossi staying at Andretti, I can't see anyone better for the 2nd Ganassi seat than what they already have.

Seems like the Andretti to Chevy rumor may have actually had a bit of traction beyond the usual push for a better deal. Seems Zak Brown and McLaren may have made a SUBSTANTIAL buy-in offer but that would have required the engine change, sounds like the guys at HPD are still over-ruled from Japan.
No mention of what Penske would have offered but it sounds like not running 4 full time was the catch and killed that deal. Think Cindric is getting to put his stamp on the future of Penske and Roger isn't one to not plan for the future. No numbers mentioned but sounds like HPD kicked in a little and AutoNation stepped up so I think we'll see some variety in his or other team car liveries in 2020. And sounds like either way Andretti and Rossi left money on the table to keep the band together. |

I already see the series losing a couple teams over this due to the increased costs. It will be a miracle if in 2022 the 500 will see more than 30 teams.
