Britcar on Sky TV

CSS have just confirmed the times and dates for the Brands Hatch broadcasts. This should, and I stress should, include the Britcar race of 1/11/03, a bit on Britsports, and a feature (but no race footage) on the 22/11/03 night race. They filmed footage for all of the above, but I've not been informed what's been edited.

The programme is called "World Motorsports".

Saturday January 31st 13.00 Sky Sports Extra
17.30 Sky Sports Extra

Sunday February 1st 17.00 Sky Sports 3

Monday February 2nd 19.00 Sky Sports 3
23.30 Sky Sports 2

Tuesday February 3rd 10.30 Sky Sports 2
14.30 Sky Sports 2

Plenty of opportunities to watch or set the video. The Britcar bit will be in the second hour, so you can skip the Formula Nippon bit at the start.

The immediate answer is "not sure", but I'll ask James. I don't believe that CSS/Sky would create a compilation of the several broadcasts, but they possibly would provide us with the individual tapes that we would have to compile ourselves, but this is speculation.

We are formulating plans for far superior coverage this year.

Checked with James, and the plan is to compile a DVD ourselves, comprising all of the 2002 and 2003 Sky broadcasts. This will be done when James and John can get around to it, and the cost will be around £12, but don't hold me to it.

Just watched the first broadcast, and what an improvement !

This time, the CSS team really excelled - they cut down on the interviews, gave the ultra-professional Mima Seldon a piece-to-camera, and roped in old Adipose, a man who knows his stuff in all fields of circuit racing, to share the commentary. The in-car footage was relevant and exciting (helped by the fact that the racing was excellent), and the whole thing had a flow that told the story of the race.

I have been publicly and privately critical of CSS in the past, but it seems things are moving in the right direction. Well done Dawn, Mima, Andrew, and the rest of the team at CSS.

Watch it, or set the video, you won't be disappointed.

falcemob, try www.eerc.co.uk, to find everything you want to know about Britcar, Britsports, and the Avon 100, the three series run by the European Endurance and Racing Club.

My apologies to Ms Seldon. Despite having worked alongside the lady at Brands, I continue to mispell her name, which, according to the Sky credits, should be spelt Myma, and not Mima.

falcemob, alternatively, watch one of the Sky transmissions detailed at the top of this thread. The Britcar bit is about 75 minutes in from the start of the programme.

I'll ring CSS tomorrow and find out,

I think it will be mainly Britsports, plus some interviews and pitlane footage from the Britcar night race, and perhaps a bit of Matt Seldon's in-car from dad Peter's BMW.

Just got the info from Dawn at CSS.

First broadcast is due Sunday, February 29th, 3pm, Sky Sports 3, BUT, this is likely to be changed, and moved to the next weekend.

They will contact me to re-confirm, but I will ask again in the week leading up to the 29th.

You might want to keep the TV thread separate, but it wouldn't matter unduly. You're the boss !

Doubtful, since I recall that the CSS crew didn't turn up till mid-afternoon. I'm going to call CSS tomorrow to thank them for a great double-bill, and I'll ask then.
