I remember standing out in the rain, after about half an hour the non sun had run down my waterproof jacket and soaked my shorts and everything below. We tried to find shelter where ever we could and in the campsite our gazebo was about the only one still standing, i remember people around us coming over with bribes of food and drink, we had the radio on and a bbq alight in the middle, no social distancing in those days.

Put my MR2 back on the road 1st may, filled up the petrol tank and have been out a few times in it, but still over half a tank left so pitiful mileage done, it just sits there collecting dust and bird poo, have washed it 3 times already. Then again the Jag is still on the same Tank of diesel bought early in March. However rules are being relaxed a little so might get more chance to enjoy driving.

It was very hot. I arrived in T34 only just before the start as for the one and only time, we had driven from Paris (long story...). No-one had bought a parking ticket and we had to park about 3 miles away in a residential street. Walking from there with a camera bag in that heat, I'd almost melted by the time I got up to my seat.... Thankfully M. Fab had a spare parking rouge ticket which really saved our bacon for the rest of the weekend. It was also the last year that we set off without a parking ticket. I made sure we had one in advance every year after that.....

We had a period of staying elsewhere and parking in Rouge, then we switched to Expo. |

I had the classic out too. They really don’t like not being used or only short journeys. It wasn’t running well, but a clean of the spark plugs and it was good again. Treated it to a new set of plugs and leads to say sorry.
Having said that it is the only car I do go out in at the moment! All essential journey’s are done in that. |

1982 part 2. Some may not be first class, but they show the variety and atmosphere

Worse than September... the 1000 km in November 2003 (Bugatti track). The coldest and one of the ****iest race I have attended.

Some more from 1982, may even be enough for another set if anyone wants them. Group C2 certainly had more variety then LMP2, they added to the uncertainty as they mostly looked like they were held together with selotape and string. I think the Camaros which were there that year really were cobbled together. I do kiss the more ramshackle teams at times

I should have decided to go at Le Mans for 1982. First year of group C and still some 935.

Pretty sure that the dutch group on our campsite bought a small bit for 100 euro, but it was very small. It said sponsored by Tertre Rouge as i remember.
