Didnt work well for Dumbrell and Youlden as they got older sadly and they were in Top Tier cars.

Dumbrell was on the pace in 2018 while Youlden won the race in ‘17 and all but in ‘18

They both made some silly errors in their final years.

Is there a market to sell those cars to if they were to move them on? If so, will the S2 teams recover the outlay from their Gen2 chassis to then be able to afford a Gen3?

Spares may be another factor, a glut of top tier left overs potentially, if Gen3 has more (different) control items, or potentially less available if those parts need to be made and the manufacturers don't see the return in making more.

The regulars like SM and SVG have made silly errors in recent years too, just look at Whincup this year at Bathurst.

Meaning they both got outed/pushed/basically retired due to various Co-driving incidents at the back end of the careers.

they were no slouches thought but silly mistakes cost them in the end

Super2 teams have a variety of ways to keep costs down AFAIK. E.g., using older spec parts, not crack testing all components between every round, stretching engine mileage out etc.

It is interesting to see an engineer split from a driver like that.

Could be good for SVG to shake things up.

Needs a little bit more consistency and quali speed.

Wasn't JW ahead of him until Bathurst?

Alistair McVain over to Kelly's apparently - huge exodus from Erebus.

With a rumour around 2 rookies and a huge brain drain on engineering talent I'm concerned about a big fall here.

Indications are that Penrite are gone too, following a driver. Penrite NZ couldn't give away De Pasquale/Reynolds-branded gear quickly enough at a recent NZ event

Confirmed, maybe he will run into Grant McPherson at the nursery? Adds fuel to the Reynolds to Kelly rumour.

IM still dumbfounded why Rick would pack up and leave Kelly Racing and take his sponsor with him.....is there a a rift between him and Todd ?

I would thought a natural progression "as he got older" would be Co Driver in Kelly Racing and Management ?

Anyone?

There definitely seems to be something happening. After all, not much wrong with Kelly racing, so I would hazard a guess there is some rift between the brothers, until we got more info

I guess some things weren't meant to be, although it seemed those two brothers were the perfect combo. Guess we will have to wait and see

Has it been confirmed he's going elsewhere?

My understanding is that Castrol were paying nowhere near market rates to be on that car, and has been the case for the past few years.
