Well done, Jon. Let's get what we can!

'Bonkers bonnet' is right. It doesn't exactly enhance its looks, does it?

Yes the Bonnet is a little out of proportions but for a reason! This car is or was (it was indeed for sale for a while but as was heared only silly money was offered) owned by John van de Venne. The car has an enormous airfilter sitting on top of the Webers just to try to cut down the noise for those anoing twin Zolder noisemeasuring systems. The car is actually quite nice. And if you asked John to have a look under the bonnet the good way. a cold Belgium beer freshly served out of the racetruck could be yours, just a prove of Johns excelent Belgium hospitality.

You don't need a massive bonnet bulge................

A picture of my car in about 1969. Apparently the engine had been taken out to 410 cu and it was running 10s

Pity you don't have the engine still! Mind Ford SBF are a bit fragile at much over 350cu in.

You sure that is not a Griff on a Vitara chassis!!!!!!!!! LUSH.

These two pictures aren't to be used anywhere else at all, on pain of death, destruction, pillaging and rape, but they are both International pre FIA cut-off races - make of them what you will (I agree with Terry's comment though!):-

Gregor just to be clear where these actual International classified races or support races at an international meeting. Sounds pedantic but two very different things!

Excellent Gregor, the first shot shows how the cars should be driven! Not just on the straight bits!!

Not pedantic at all Simon,it means the difference between getting HTPs or not getting them. The car has to have covered just one qualifying lap of an International race to be eligible.Being in the Race Program is not enough either.

Bet those tyres were a bit second hand after he'd finished with them though.

Do I have those pic's? (cos they aare not popping up / have moved (or is this just cos I am at work?). What specifically are the showing that should be of interest to the Garlic Munchers (GTO vents, bulges, wide arches). You'd have to tell us / them what pre-cut off event they were in anyway.

I recon they have made there decided now to stiff the Griff of the rear tyre size now anyway.

Top fia car are most likely making well over 100bhp more than they did on any cars racing in 65 / 66.

Sheets Body Shop should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hello, I have a 66 Griffith 400. My father and I are getting ready to restore it. I do have the title and we also are looking for what would be the original color choices. We are both not very familiar with posting on websites, but I searched and searched for any sort of discussions online about the car and its numbers and I have finally found it. If anyone cares I will post some pictures of the car. btw it is in need of TOTAL restoration.

I know there's a help page but I think the best way is to open a free account with www.photobucket.com and then you can link the phots from your album. The other alternative is to e-mail your pics to another member who can post them for you.
I now see you're in America; do you have any contact with Mike Mooney?

The hoodscoop is a horrible 1970's add on. Like other Griffiths in America this one was once raced on the dragstrip.

Thanks GBRM, I hope the photobucket works. If I get these pictures on here im sure there will be some guys who say that it isnt really a Griffith. The car im sure has been through a lot. But since 2001 (when i purchased it) I have been doing research and not only does the title state that it is real, everything is adding up and the numbers match. [400/6/04X] The only reason I have put an "X" in the last digit of the VIN, is to be very careful, as some people are making fake ones. The engine is gone along with the gear-box. I have been e-mailing Mr. Mooney for about a month without any reply. It is left hand drive. It has a four point roll bar that looks incredibly factory. By that I mean it is thick and was thought out very well before installation. The only reason i even got involved with this website was to obtain as much info about the cars as i possibly can while i restore it.

You can't always trust what people on forums say!! Sounds like you have a decent car and I'm sure Mike will reply to you if you're using the correct address (Is it eh earthlink one?) and if not let me of jellison know as Jellison knows Mike very well and I know him through e-mail about my late Dad's Griff and trying to trace the British built Griffs.

Sheets (are you Jeff)? Mike is normally reasonably quick to reply unless away (are you trying mooneyme@earthlink.net).

When a pic is in photobucket - hover over it and then you will see the 4 different types of links you can use to it - copy the lower one (the IMG Code) into the thread.

Like this [IMG]http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q150/jontr4/Picture372.jpg) ). With the Bracket, it produces the below.

Chat more then.

Welcome SBS, good to hear of another one. However, you might as well disclose the full chassis number as fakers will know the chassis number sequences and build them anyway, if they are that determined to do so. I've always felt that publicising chassis numbers removes the cloak of secrecy that enables fakers to thrive under. It also means that the information out there is available to potential unsuspecting buyers/victims. It's one of the reasons we have our Chassis History Archive.

well i hope that worked. thank jelly. If the photo works i will show two more. The first one doesnt really show very much. Yes the car looks very bad, but I have been many restorations and with it being fiberglass makes me feel a little at ease. Im not too worried about the chassis because it does look and feel solid. Ive been waiting for about 8 years to start this project and I see a lot of potential. Now I also need to know for sure what gear-box the 400 uses. If its a T-10 Borg-Warner, I have one in another car. If not I need to start looking for something else and a 66 289hipo, correct?
