Checkered Flag
What is the origin of the Checkered Flag?
No one I know has been able to come up with that answer or even much of a guess,and i was just wondering if u guys had a clue! look forward to ideas. |

An investigation conducted back in 1950 suggested that a "bone crusher" race on a cobbled street in Paris in 1864 may have inadvertently caused the beginning when a lady in the crowd loaned a checkered scarf to an official in order that his signal to start the race might be seen by the contestants.
I don't have any idea what a "bone crusher" race is,and I think 1864 may be a little early for motorsports,but you asked |

A 'bone crusher' was a early bicycle ,before suspension?
