In light of all the arguments about whether Mika or Schu is the better driver . . . or how they would perform if they were in different livery, here's a thought, my fellow pilotes:
At the end of the season, an exhibition -- any circuit F1 chooses. Take the current teams, current cars. Put their names in a hat. Have the team managers draw. Any cars but their own. Your podium picks? |

If they pick the right cars ... simple
McLaren and Ferrari would still be on top. Schumacher and Häkkinen in a Minardi would hardly make for a top 6 finish neither would Mazzacane in a McLaren. But let's pick some fav's: 1. Fisichella - McLaren 2. Trulli - Ferrari 3. Villeneuve - Ferrari 4. Alesi - Williams 5. Zonta - Jordan 6. Heidfeld - Jordan ------------------------- 7. de la Rosa - Williams 8. Mazzacane - McLaren 9. Schumacher - Minardi 10. Häkkinen - Minardi |

1_ Villeneuve(Mclaren) 2_ Fisichela(Mclaren 3_ Alesi(Ferrari) 4_ Trulli(Jordan, somehow he got the same car.) 5_ Gene(Williams) 6_ Irvine(Ferrari, deja vu?) |

Actually the combination of Frentzen's smooth style and a McLaren seems so patently obvious, why has no one suggested it?
How they'd finish in the cars I'd like to see them in: 1) Frentzen (McLaren) 2) Alesi (Ferrari) 3) Ralfie (McLaren) 4) Villeneuve (Williams) 5) Salo (Ferrari) 6) Fisi (Jordan) 7) DC (Jag) 12) TGF (Prost) |

One helluva race
I have a better idea: match the drivers standings in the WDC in reverse order to the Constructors Championships. That way, either Mika or the michael will be in Minardis, and Gene and Mazza will be in McLarens. Now that would be one helluva race.

Relax downforce. These rankings have little to do with the drivers and way more with the cars they drive. The performance ratio car\driver has risen steadily over the years in F1 already from 1950 onwards and reaching a lowest point in the seventies and then again upwards until today.
Today the car is worth about 80% for the performance, driver for about 20%. So no matter if God himself drives a Minardi (or TGF in your case ) he wouldn't make it lap much faster than the current drivers would. Somewhere between half and a full second a lap is really max and that would be the difference between God and Mazzacane. The difference between God's car (F1-2000 in your case ) and the Minardi is worth more than twice that. So there you have it: God in the Minardi would never be able to be faster than Mazzacane in God's car. |
