The You Yangs are a group of granite peaks that rise out of the Werribee plains - and are very obvious because the rest of the ground is so flat. They are a 5 min drive from my place. The proving grounds for Ford are named thusly because they aren't far away either.

Prototypes, masked test cars etc are often seen driving between Ford Geelong and the proving grounds - not sure I've ever seen photographers though.

It is a pity that they are technically incorrect then isnt it...

My original question stands... when does a lease on a V8Supercar start and stop? From the beginning of the meeting till the end of the meeting, or from the beginning of the meeting until the start of the next meering when another car replaces that one.

There is a reason the AVESCO/TEGA boys and girls havent announced anything officially... despite having the ability to do so at their leisure....

So, what if a well-financed man (such as myself) approached a team (such as Dynamik) and offered to buy one of their just retired race cars as they had just built a new one.

I want to buy it and race it as a sports sedan or clubby or just to have it, like the famous Mr Bowden. Im not a racer and its an "EX v8supercar" now.

Then what if I asked them to take it out to an airfield for me so I could have some fun in it.

Then what if the team send one of their drivers, too show me how to wring its neck.

And what if they send out an engineer or two to give it a few tweaks for me.

And they send some fancy measuring devices and tricks so we can all have some fun.

And what if after all that I think, Ahh bugger it, i dont think I will buy it afterall. So they take it home again. I will pay them for their time etc. We all had a fun weekend and they got some good ideas for their current cars.

Technically has any rule been breached?

It all works, except the car has a V8Supercar logbook, and by the rules of the category, any Supercar needs to be approved to be transferred to another party....

Even handovers, and ride days and straight line performance testing need AVESCO/TEGA approval....

All the rubbish aside. TD have been caught. In the act. Fair and square. No ifs, no buts and no maybe's. What do we all feel the penalty should be? Do we really want people like this in our championship? Have they done it before? Will they do it again? Should we abolish the testing rules? Please let me hear what the punter wants.

We are all well aware that Oscar, simon and five TD members were caught by Ray on Saturday in their latest chassis. Yes this is the car that Davison drove at Oran Park under Imries franchise but let me assure you, Avesco are not going to allow the "Imries franchise" argument even be considered. Who owns the car? Who drove the car? Who funded the outing? Who"s truck was used? Who's "green" engineer was ther GTR? You should know that one. Was it by chance your mates engineer? The same one guy who is employed by TD. Oh yes and lets ponder over who was paying Claude?

Bit like the old Group C days when there used to be stories of cars that had been repaired by the TAFE repair team being run in around the back streets of Bathurst in the wee hours of the morning.

I recall that the HDT Commodore was run it at Bathurst Airport after being repaired following Moffat destroying the front end at Bathurst in 86.

If what has been said is true, it might not have been Team Dynamik's car or franchise but their crew certainly were involved in an illegal test session.

So is it "illegal" for TD crew to work on someone elses car?

Does Simon Wills have a logbook?

I would think that crews are liable under the same rules as franchise owners if it came to the crunch.

Dick also ran his Falcon around in 1982 with a police escort on the Sat night after it's umpteenth engine rebuild.
Yes, this was the one that was excluded after the race for engine irregularities (oversized valves IIRC). He later blamed all the problems on the **** Valvoline oil he had to use at the time (he soon changed sponsorship to Shell).

Bruce Moxon should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Someone borrowed my RX3 road car to run in a race motor at Bathurst in 198something. They pulled out my road motor and gearbox and put in their race motor and gearbox and went for a drive for a few hours. Their mule car had some problem, as I remember it. As payment, I got a 48mm Webber.

I ran in a race motor in a road car for Bathurst 1983. That car finished in the top ten. Drove to Mittagong and back in a ****ty RX4 with a 12A Peripheral Port. Pretty funny when the fuel filter died and I had to get the NRMA - should have seen the look on his face when I opened the bonnet!

Plenty of Bathurst cars have been 'tested' by driving to Orange and back with "Trade" plates on them. With or without Police escort.

The allged testing infraction by TD is a different matter. Whether or not the testing restrictions are 'right' or 'fair' or are broken or obeyed by other teams, it seems they have been caught and GTR's suggestions of legal hair-splitting may or may not save them.

By the way, did you hear the one where a team with a tie-up to another big team overseas actually had cars and tyres in the foreign country, so they could test there?

the tyre regulations on who has got what and when they can or not be used are not very well policed by the tyre manufacturer ,AVESCO,TEGA, or any other organisation involved..about time something was done about this.....

Now we are starting to get to the bit that will bite Oscar and the rest of the owners of Team Dynamite (whoever they really are), TYRES!

Word is marked ones (14?) were used, and this will be the crack in the dyke that no finger will fill. AVESCO has to be advised of any testing in advance. The tyres make it a V8 Supercar, irrespective of the possable ownership change.

Ray Gulson drove his Alfa Gp A GTV to Bathurst on trade plates in 85 or 86 from Canberra in order to run in the engine.
