Oh, and the course was increased not reduced!

My source is the Paul Sheldon Black Book "A Record of the R.A.C. British Hillclimb Championship".

The Next Question is .......

Oh go on then I will!

The question is in THREE parts:

a) which constructor was the first to record a clean sweep of all Top Ten Places in a Championship run-off? Clue: In fact all 12 cars were of the same make!
b) at what venue did this occur?
c) what was the date?

Best of luck!

Gould Did it at Gurston on 26th May 2006, but Tom New and Tony Wiltshire were 11th and 12th. So I guess I'm wrong there...

Hmmm

Watch out everyone - the quiz master is throwing googlies at us...

Rather than concentrating on the question I'm now puzzled by the true meaning of "several".

Are bonus points available??

I say Jonners leave my googlies out of this! Who do you think I am Shane Warne's mentor?

If I were you I would concentrate on getting the answer rather than the semantics of what does the word several mean! I'll give you a clue, it's more than one and less than ten!

Ah - but I stood a better chance of getting the meaning of several correct so I, for one, am going to have to pass on this one.

Infact, they're too fiendish for me anyway so I'll probably just watch and heckle occasionally...

Seeing as Godfrey Crompton was 7th in a Toleman and Graham Priaulx in a Tiga was tenth the answer has to be WRONG!

I do not have access to boxes of old programs and results or "uphill racers", I am unsure of whether it can be pilbeam. Have they ever produced 10 cars of the same chassis? I also dont know but did the championship always have a run off format?

so i will take a guess that the answer may be Cooper/1955(ish)/Gurston?

remember I am just guessing

Well your guess is wrong!

You have also mis-read the question. At no stage did I mention the 10 cars were all "the same chassis" or even chassis type!

Finally the championship did not always have a run-off format and it wasn't always limited to the Top Ten (or Twelve). However you will have to trust me when I say that .....

(a) the first time it happened all the cars were produced by the same manufacturer
(b) it was in a run-off, and
(c) there were 12 cars in the run-off and they were all built by the same constructor.

Better luck next time!

As you haven't said the venue or constructor was wrong, just the meeting, that it's just the meeting we're searching for?

Update

Seeing as it has all gone quiet I thought I would bump this thread!

b1ackcr0w has been the closest so far.

The venue is indeed Shelsley Walsh.

The constructor was Pilbeam.

However it wasn't June 1983, so when?
