Anyone from here marshalling? Jan and I are heading down (it's cost me the promise of a meal on the way home to twist her arm!)

The course looks interesting from the line drawing I've seen. A big junction just before the finish could be interesting, along with two chicanes - temporary variety, I assume.

Should be fun, looking at the entry list. Graham Loakes as the hillclimb specialist will be the benchmark, I guess.

The main thing to say after a really enjoyable day out is a whopping 'well done' to the organisers. Everything ran really well, which for a first effort at a new discipline was a superb acheivement, and it did so with really good spirit. Thank you all for making us feel welcome, and for providing such an entertaining day. An excellent starting point from which to develop.

My apologies for not being able to make it on the weekend. When we said yes, failed to remember that we were actually moving. Sounds like it was enjoyable though.

Only took a couple and not the best
Start

First bend

run up to second bend

second chicane,didn't take the first

then a long straight blast, before a tight right to the finish

Thought the marshal's huts were a tad cramped though

Like the part where the driver tells himself to wake up after neglecting to change down to 2nd before the chicane

Looks like quick single seaters could reach some hairy speeds between the exit from the 2nd chicane and the final right hander

I seem top remeber it being mentioned that they could not have single seaters at this event. I can't exactly remember the reasoning. Although i do agree, it would be good to see the speeds they could do.

At the moment it's not licensed (can't remember if smaller ss are allowed). IMO it would take some serious work at the sides of the track as it is typical Welsh moorland - ie very bumpy with lots of potential launch pads. I wouldn't want to go wide anywhere in anything less substantial than a rally car. In addition, the spectators are mostly of the rally variety and treat it as a rally stage. To run quicker stuff you'd need to start looking at primary protection for the spectators and marshals as well as keeping everyone off the track between runs. The venue was run more like a rally stage than a traditional hill-climb (and that's not a problem with the type of entry). You'd have to change that mindset if you're going to introduce single seaters or sports racers, and I'm not convinced that's necessary as it's a brilliant venue and event the way it is. Time will tell, of course, and it very much depends on how the club and competitors see it developing.

Unfortunately it will be a championship round where single seaters cannot run, not our choice but too costly to rectify at present. I'm not sure what the politics of it are.

Good luck with it. I'll put it in my possbiles since last year was very enjoyable. I'll change the thread title too to make it a bit more up to date.

Pity - I'd hoped to come and marshal this year (would have brought back memories of marshalling the Welsh Rally in the 60s with a sadly-deceased and much-missed friend) but it clashes with VSCC at Loton Park, where I'm on a three-line whip.

Aha, something to help with the marshals' incident handling experience, then.

You clearly know something we don't. You weren't getting bored doing nothing last year then ?

Have you marshalled TVRs? They can be - how shall I put it - unruly on a circuit with lots of space. Confine them to a hill climb and they just want to escape. It's the motoring equivalent of sticking a cat in a travel box! I predict running, although whether away from the start or towards the end of the incident I'm not prepared to forecast.
