WebberForWDC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Still BTCC has ~13 cars and that's a premier series, so the grid in Australia for a proposed low-cost 2L series might be a bit sad.

Proper 2L race cars, don't seem to be able to be done cheaply i think. Especially if there is any development and freedom of regulations.

Maybe what New Zealand used to have for cheaper 2L race cars and the NZ V8 series for cheaper 5-ish L race cars.

As for 2L production cars, there generally aren't hordes of people hanging over the fence to catch a glimpse of the Corolla Sportivo "roaring" past!

I notice holden aim to import the daewoo range, rebadged as holdens.
One model will be named the holden viva.
Im sure GTRMagic could help with a possible colour scheme?

I reckon forget the 2 litres, Aussies as a whole don't want to watch them race.
The Development series should use a lower spec engine than the main game (perhaps like NZ V8's), but keep the same chassis as there is a good supply of used ones from the main teams at reasonable prices.
You can't get second hand engines though, so that would be a good place to cut costs.

DKGandBH has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
A Development series needs to be very similar to the main game...
Otherwise, what is the point. They need to get used to the size of the car, how it handles etc...

I think the current system is OK...But there needs to be a limit on how much input the main contenders can have in the development series.

I don't agree that the main teams can also field a development car, this defeats the purpose of limited cost, but I realise that there are upsides to this as well... team driver education / product testing / etc...

I reckon the Development series should be Supercars. I would love them to take away all electronics off them, run carbies and no data. This would help the drivers learn to setup cars and read what they want and would be a reat training ground for engineers. It would also have the benifit of showing which driver has the complete package. The result would be that the Development series would be able to use supercar shells but have the cost saving of no electronics and data. This should make that series be a little bit more affordable for more people and get bigger fields. I also think main game players should not be allowed to enter or help any development teams.

If they couldn't do it officially they would do it unofficially.

Holden and Ford are not interested in promoting any circuit racing category that contains cars that are not Holdens and Fords in it.

For any new category to succeed - it must be prepared to do so without the support of Ford or Holden.

So who is going to bankroll that?

Also - there are far too many categories in Aust to begin with. If we want to recreate Future Racing Cars, (6 built, three still running with one of them completely rebuilt to fit in better with another pre-existing category), then this would be a great way to start.
