Jo Marquart 50th anniversary 2015
2015 is the 50th anniversary of Joe Marquart’s first race car design the 1965 Wilson GT that he designed whilst he was working for the Scottish Bus Group in Edinburgh.
He went on to Team Lotus working alongside the Maurice Philippe before teaming up with Robin Herd and Gordon Coppuck at McLaren and then went on to Huron, GRD and Modus. Thereafter, he founded Argo Racing Cars in 1977. The Argo JM6 was one of F3's pace-setters in 1979/80 and the JM16 and JM 19 sports car designs found their niche in IMSA's Camel Lights class during the 1980s. I have been in contact with Jackie Marquart and we feel this is an anniversary that should be celebrated – so any bright ideas ? sensible suggestions of how and where? do you have a JM car? Richard |
