I think it's more about whether Mercedes continues. Both them and Renault rely on normal car sales and have large shareholder responsibilities.

For someone like LH would the allure of Ferrari as opposed to the potential to consistently win, be enough?
I think he'll stay put . . . look what happened to FA and SV Ferrari would be better off with a quick ish rookie as a confirmed No2, like Lando Norris or similar from their accademy, they already have a race winner in a seat. |

I thought Sainz was already confirmed at Ferrari on a multi year deal.... according to Ferrari anyway.
So another Spaniard at Marinello. |

so did I, and probably so did Gordon - easiest tenner he's ever made! But he has to come to the Stoke Row Show to collect it (topical question, is the Show still on?)

Hmm, that's the organisers not the government, similar to the proclamations from Formula 1. Also would it be behind closed doors?

Well this is what they have to say about it, Peter
. SRO Motorsports Group has revealed plans to begin the European racing season this summer, with revised calendars confirmed for GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS and the GT4 European Series. While both championships have been delayed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, work is now well underway to ensure that the new campaign begins in a safe and timely fashion. GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS will kick off with a three-hour Endurance Cup contest at Imola on 18-19 July, while the GT4 European Series is also set to launch at the Italian venue with a pair of one-hour races. In both cases, the health of those involved remains a priority. Events will be staged under local regulations and with appropriate precautions in place, while SRO will adopt stringent social distancing rules to maintain the safety of competitors, circuit workers and the wider community. Further information on these measures will be communicated in due course. In the meantime, efforts are focused on returning to racing and delivering an exciting season of racing in 2020. |

There you go. Local regs. If they say no events then this is just optimistic hot air. I do hope this is not the case but I am somewhat cynical.

I'm fascinated to see how SRO will maintain social distancing for pitstops!

With the protective gear they wear these days I do not foresee a problem.

Will borders be open to allow the teams to travel?
Will the sponsors still have budgets? And a host of other questions of course ... |

Very true, however when I first started racing I wrote letters (those things that you post) to about 50 firms and only received one reply who said "sorry". Years later when I started racing again after going Moto- crossing and getting married I won several races at Brands, and after one where I won against some serious opposition I was approached in the pits by someone who said "come and see me next week I would like to sponsor you" !!!!!! Once this had happened I asked other people that I knew who had businesses if they might like to join in and they did. Some supplied parts and others that magic stuff called MONEY ! One let me use one of the best hospitality suites at Brands complete with 30 + tickets to give to sponsors and friends at every meeting and another paid for all the race entries. What I have found in life is "it's not what you know it's who you know"
Unfortunately I can't see that happening to an "ordinary" club racer like I was in todays climate. |

I'd love to, John! I think its a little bit too early but one car must go to Normandy and I appreciate Trouville… We are studying how to manage the transportation next week. And wife's company dont allow "big heads" to use buses or Métro, its private car, vélo éléctrique, moto or… remote! For once they offer the parking fee…

We went to Le Touquet on Wednesday when the beach was still closed but there was a keen North wind coming off the sea anyway. Good to see the town coming back to life, though. |

1982 Austin Rover Rallysprint
A rare moment occurred on Thursday evening when I was allowed full access to the TV & remote control as Mrs V went to bed early (she was staring to work at 2 AM). I decided on a bit of nostalgia and found this on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMCTV-pOoRI.
Genuine top F1 stars pitted against top international rally stars at a really cheesy event held at Donington Park. Sadly I can't see Lewis & his contemporaries taking part (or maybe being allowed to take part) in a similar event today... |
