Mallory Park

Mallory is supposed to have a new layout - a sharp left-hander out of Gerrards and a sweep to the right to link up with the esses. Supposed to slow stuff down a little going into esses.
However, I've heard that this will only be used for bikes - anyone know any different

Neil

Perhaps you could tell us whether cars are likely to be using the chicane or not if you hear anything. Also, if they do use the chicane, what they are going to do to stop any cars that might go straight up the 'old' track into the path of cars rejoining at the Esses...

Mallory more news

Just been to mallory today and taken some pics. Circuit staff still not sure if cars will use it. but is wide enough for cars unlike the bus stop. Mallory is also resurfacing the track on the exit of the esses removing a bump known to high side bikes. marshal post positions as yet unknown, although there is at least one gap in the armco

Iv'e got this feeling that there will be more accidents than ever now(perhaps not as major hopefully)! Blasting down the straight into a tight left right flick there will interlocking wheels, drivers late braking up the inside crashing into the sides of other cars, smashing into the backs of others-I think it will be a photographers delight...role on March 30th for the Mighty Mini's!! PS: not saying that the MM boys and girls are prone to this sort of thing...Is that Maisie I can hear screaming already!!!!

The more I think about it the more I don't think they should use it for cars. As Baz said, an accident waiting to happen.

i had heard that it will not be used for cars, just bikes, as esses was a big problem for bikes.

So...if it isn't going to be used by cars do you reckon that drivers will get a false sence of security knowing the banking is further back (on the entry at least)and possibly enter the Esses even faster? It doesn't look as though the exit (banking) has been moved back though so I guess its wait and see!

Remember what happened last time the banks at Mallory were moved back. Down came the lap times even though the actual track was unchanged. Who says drivers don't pay any attention to their surroundings!

According to the Mallory Park www, the new "Corner - Edwina's" - will be used for "Modern" Motorcycle racing whilst historic bikes will use the original 1.35 mile track.
The Circuit is still awaiting a decision from the MSA as to whether cars will be using "Edwina's"
