Nordic should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Creation DBA

Watching the great effort by these guys at the 'ring last weekend, I could not help but wonder how these guys can run such a large team without much visable sponsorship?
Also is this the old Neilsen car from last year?

In addition to the DBA they run a FIA GT team (Lister), a couple of Grp c Cars at LM also seemed to be entered under their name, in the background of the TV interviews with JcW at the ring, the Liger JS2 was sitting in what looked like their garage.

Wonder why they still call it a DBA. There is no Den Bla Avis on the car is there?

Yes Nordic, there Zytek is the old Neilsen car. That display over the weekend shown what a mistake the ACO made by not inviting them to Le Mans this year.

"But ultimately the chassis is called a DBA, why? Carsten Rae is John Nielsen's partner in RN Motorsports. Rae owns the Danish news paper Den Bla Avis, DBA. As Ian Smith of RN Motorsports points out, "It suited our future customers for the car to be called something other than YGK/IRM. We had carried out a fair bit of development work by this time and the
ACO allowed us to re-homologate with a new name. So the car became the DBA4 03S -P675".

Yes, so this car is properly a DBA. The car run by Zytek is properly a Zytek as this year they made enough changes and the ACO allowed them to rehomologate the car as a Zytek. The changes mainly consist of modifications made to the bodywork in an effort to reduce weight.

Does Zytek make their enhancements available to Creation as well? And if they do, would that make it a Zytek rather than a DBA sooner or later?

Or will the two cars be developed apart from each other?

I would like to think that Zytek's mods are available to Creation if simply to encourage Zytek to build more cars. Though not knowing how subsantial the changes are, I can only guess that Creation doesn't have the budget to make the modifications (or doesn't feel they are necessary). And yes, I would think that if Creation ever did modify the car to '04 "Zytek" spec that their DBA 03S would then be a full fledged Zytek 04S.

I get very confused in these matters, are they both based on the Reynard from 2001 or so ? If so, is the Reynard still around, or is it now one of these ?

The DBA is the Reynard.
Basically, it went from being the Reynard 02S (when first introduced), to IRM 02S (after IRM brought the rights to the design after Reynard went bust, which is how it first ran. Also during this period it ran as a YGK), and finally, to DBA 03S when it was brought by John Neilsen, who carried out work on it and had it re-homolgated.
Zytek brought the rights to the design off of IRM, I belive, and are now creating the Zytek 04S.
If thats a little confusing check here
Mulsannes Corner Zytek 04S (Reynard 02S/DBA4 03S) page
Should explain it better

Hope that helps.
Ed

Creation is actually a very small team and if you look closely you will see the same people at every other weekend but with different cars. The worklooad carried by Ian and his boys is tremendousn Monday... before the Nuburgring event they just had enough time to unload the Lister
and pack up for the Trip to Germany.I actually saw the truck boarding the ferry on Monday night...amazing.
as for the car:it is actally the only reynard chassis and got finished by RN-motorsports.It was homologated as a DBA in deference to the backer of the project.
Last winter Team Creation bought the car ,truck and everything and started their own development programme ,as in RN s hands the potential of the car never got unleashed, mainly due to lack of funds presumably.
the Zytek was scruteeniered at LeMans 50kgs lighter as the DBA is currently 708 against 760,so I cannot see the difference being lighter bodywork. How they did save the weight, who knows...
Creation has agood working relationship with Zytek,as they say and it can be seen at the track.parts do interchange and of course they use their engine but in essence they run their own boat having the legs on them on suspension setup imo.
Competing for a win is a real david against goliath thing in this case and I reeally admire and applaud Mike and Ian for taking the fight to Audi with their bunch of clever capable and determined people .
