Irish Tarmac Rally Championship 2022:

Round 1 - Killarney Historic Rally - 27 November 2021
Round 2 - Galway International Rally - 5-6 February
Round 3 - West Cork International Rally - 19-20 March
Round 4 - Circuit of Ireland Rally - 15-16 April

Round 6 - Donegal International Rally - 17-19 June
Round 7 - Ulster International Rally - 19-20 August*

The Ulster Rally has an asterisk because that's the date of the TBC WRC round that it is hoped will be in NI. If so, the Ulster event will move to a different date.

I started a 2022 British & Irish Rallying thread here: https://tentenths.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156706 with the intention of it housing discussion of UK events like Brands Hatch during the year. Of course, anyone can make whatever threads they like, but the annual thread is there as an option ,

Also now available on Brands Hatch website: timetable, spectator area map and stage diagrams.

Very pleased to have this detail a week in advance - for Cadwell and Donington I had to buy a programme, which was a bit cheeky of them .

I'll be there spectating this year rather than competing. Looking forward to seeing this event from a different perspective. The entry list looks pretty good too - a nice mix of stuff on there.

Sadly the Grizedale Stages had to be cancelled for lack of entries. They had over 100 cars for the original date in early December, but Storm Arwen caused the event to be postponed. The replacement date was 14/15 Jan but only 55 entries by the cut-off means cancellation. I doubt the clash with Brands Hatch was a significant factor since circuit and forest stage rallies cater for largely different crowds, but it can’t have helped.

Yep, great mix of cars. I wonder have far the Newtons can push up the field in the giant killing Nova?
The South Downs Stages at Goodwood normally held in February has been pushed back til much later in the year in 2022, was really hoping we could have another mid summer event like last year, very spectator friendly time of year as opposed to the normal freezing conditions.

I read that the August date was allowed under specific post-Covid business recovery regulations which would not apply this year. Hopefully we’ll see it return in the Autumn/Winter.

Well I'm off to Brands tomorrow as a spectator rather than competitor this time - I'll be keeping a close eye on number 28, we usually service with them on events (and I was out in Tims spare car on the last Brands event). Looking forward to seeing the event from a different angle - although I suspect I'll be a lot colder than usual!

There is some serious machinery out tomorrow, really looking forward to kicking out the post Christmas doldrums at my second home. Assembling/laying out suitable clothing measures to suit Heading for Druids at 9am

Crikey that was understatement of mine! this event has taken a real turn over the last few years in terms of standards of entry, talk about chalk and cheese. Convincing win from Frank Bird in the Fiesta Rally2 but great to see such a wide variety of machinery giving it some beans. Opted for the soft exit after stage 7 after a chilly 7 hours of spectating. Top marks to the organisers once again.

The amount of Rally 2 (or R5 whatever your preference) cars was certainly impressive (although it always seems to be a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut using those on a single venue event!). Has to be said the best looking is the Skoda - Fabias always seem to make good looking rally cars. A bit further down the entry there was a lot of variety - favourites being the Puma, Chevettes, Clio and 106 maxis. Also worth a mention was one of the BMWs that was thrown sideways at every opportunity - sometimes with the co-driver giving the thumbs up out of the window There seemed to be a lot less Imprezas than previous events, are we now seeing the demise of Imprezas on club events?

Nice I need to go through mine to see what I've got. I must have been stood pretty much next to you at one point at Druids - the Micra missing its bonnet came past when I was there.

Had been debating a trip to Brands, but didn't make it in the end. Looked like a good (but chilly!) day out. As Bert said some pretty impressive machinery for a single venue event, maybe not for everyone but I am a huge advocate of the R5 cars. Good mix of other stuff on the entry as well.

That's a sneaky angle because it's the access road off the rally loop! I saw some camera types loitering there and got some similarly rallyish shots as the cars gently meandered up the lane. You could walk down the road to the spectator area - I suspect it was supposed to be off bounds but as the cars were pootling along it wasn't a problem.
