Blanchard drove well but it would be fair to say that Boyd was quicker and gifted Blanchard the win in race 3 after a mistake on entry into cascades.

Yeah, he was pretty unlucky with the conditions. I was a little surprised that they all managed to keep it under control coming out of Knickerbrook after that safety car period in the third race - the cars were looking twitchy enough coming out of there before the wintery shower that caused the SC!

Wait a minute, is this the same Westley Barber who if my dodgy memory serves me right, had a pretty good stint in the category several years ago followed by a not so successful outing in BF3 and then seemingly disappeared?

Yep, he won UKFFC in 2003/4 I think it was.

Had a go in Comtecs WSbR car for a few races, team mate to Pippa Mann if memory serves, but then dropped of the radar as you said.

Was UKFF champ in 2002.

Don't think he has ever raced WSR...

2002...thats almost 2003 or 2004

He raced with Comtec in FR2000, but I think I am mistaken in saying he raced their WSbR car - Edwin Jowsey got booted out, and Barbed was 'in the frame' to replace him, but I dont know if he did.

Jaap van Lagen, Carlos Iaconelli and Celso Miguez drove Jowsey's car during the rest of 2006.

Barber has been loyal to Comtec/J Lewis (or maybe the other way round!!)and was the test and dev driver for them. Word has it that he developed an inner ear problem that took him out of racing for some time, however that is presumably sorted so he is back in UKFF. Quite how it stacks up to have an ex-Champion returning to a major feeder series albeit with a totally different spec car is a good question though....

Gaz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'm not sure whether its in Wes' best interests in terms of career prospects but there again is he still looking to make a career in the sport? From the outside it looks to me as though he's helping a mate out. It's to Comtec's advantage to have a proven race/championship winner in the car then they can judge exactly where they stand. Placing rookie drivers in the car perhaps wouldn't have been in the best interests of the team - unless they'd have put Wayne Boyd in ofcourse!

I'm sure the competition must see it as a positive having him in the series as well as beating an ex-champ has got to be good for confidence and the CV. Comtec are doing a good job and I think by mid-season they will be winning races - I just wished Jonathan Lewis hadn't shouted off pre-season about him having a Lotus 79 on his hands. If he's got a Lotus 79 what does that make the new Mygale!!?

Yeah, I think the only other race where he's been under any pressure was the first race at Brands when Barber led for a bit, then stuck behind hiim for most of the race.

Where have all the Van Diemans gone?

Is nobody running Van Diemens this year? Is it due to a poor chassis or bad business decisions?

Brand new car? With half the season gone, and the gearbox rule changes still up in the air, I doubt after having the same chassis for umpteen seasons they are going to re-design it just yet. They need to do something as their drivers are quicker than the car is showing.

bad luck for Aussie boy Glen Wood at the last round. He was distraught after aqua-planing out of 2nd place late in the race.
