sounds awesome, We do a similar distance to get the Bathurst (although its freeway most of the way)

I recommend not arriving at 2 am, just ruins you for the rest of the weekend and makes the trip home long as well

You will notice the significant crowd size in comparison to 12 hour, and as result, much less access to places, even things like finding a place to sit is much more difficult. as long as you are prepared for that you will have a ball

Tip for any newbies going.
Purchase the 888 RBR Bathurst Event Membership for $109 and get the shirt, lanyard etc but you get the pit tour as well and for anyone who is going to purchase a shirt anyway this is worth paying for just to get the pit tour or in the Bull Pen on which I have viewed on 3 occasions.

just a thought

$109 for rag? sounds expensive

Prodrive offered a similar thing at the 2017 bathurst for ford fans

Good one Peckstar!

Bit worried about the hot hatch, not becoming a metrosexual/ SNAG by any chance?
Next you will be telling us that you are taking your scented candle collection to Bathurst with you.

Yes expecting a much bigger crowd, lucky for us we have access to a house somewhere on the track, the whole reason we're going down. Hopefully will be a great experience all round!

The circuit seems not to be completely closed after the event, with the right residents pass you can get thru. Monday morning after the event, the sign people, the toilet and portable hire contractors, plus an army of council workers descend onto the track itself to perform restoration work.

Best shot is to go up during the week, any week, that is not race week..

Note that there are regularly cameras/police presence at the bottom of the hill after Caltex Chase... and if you arent on your side of the road.. or indeed skip across because the G-forces of Caltex Chase push you that way... be prepared for the possibility of a ticket... regardless of speed.

Oh thats fine GTR, I did the lap as such a few years ago but I know in 2016
Mountain straight was block off by security Monday morning.

I do intend to walk a lap again as I did in 2015 on raceday morning
