So few of the tracks are. Touring cars should race on twisty and tight tracks IMO, Knockhill is the ideal touring car circuit.

Much depends on the desire to retain the 'World' title. The other option would be to follow the GT model, drop the 'World' and become a 'International' series based mostly in Europe but with the odd flyaway race (i.e. Macau). It could still be the FIA Touring Car Championship, but not the FIA World Touring Car Championship. I suspect for a number of reasons that isn't really an atractive prospect.
It's the FIA's fault. Some stupid put it in the ISC that a world championship must have stupid flyaways, sorry, races in 3 continents.

I know the proposed Lada entry never came to anything, but there seems to be growing interest from that part of the world. Does the WTCC need a Russian or Baltic States round?

I'm afraid my knowledge of Eastern Block circuits is virtually nil. Do they have a circuit capable of holding such an event?

There's only one racing circuit in Russia: ADM (Avtodrom Moskva). It was opened last year so I so it should be in quite good shape

In Baltic States there are one track in each. Nemuno žiedas in Kačerginė (near Kaunas) Lithuania, Biķernieki in Riga Latvia and EST-Ring in Pärnu Estonia. None of these could host a WTCC round. Tracks are in bad shape, quite dangerous and lack proper pit/paddock facilities.

A few years ago the DTM tried to organize a race on a streetcircuit near the university of Moskow. I don't remember why that did'nt happen though.

It's possible to run the bathurst 1000, when you skip the last race in Europe. From Australia, Macau isn't that far away.
And that is possible by organising a race before the Zandvoort date. There is a huge break anyway. In that way you maybe even can scrap the hole South-American tour altogether, since you run on a new continent. The rule of races on 3 continents for a world championship is kept.
The only problem is that after a 1000km-race cars might need a good service, and engines a rebuilt.
But the race would be awesome, together with the V8's.

What happened with the australian touringcar championship? I think the class 1 is V8 Supercars but what is under this class? Is there a championship for s2000 cars? Are there some s2000 cars? And what happened with JAS?
I think the Engström car is a new one. Is there a developing?

I know. The drivers are Dani Sola and Luca Betti. Two exellent drivers.
But what is with the touringcar project? I heard that the Accord from Jens Edman in Denmark and the Accord from Engström are new cars.

I'm not sure if there is any actual development done by JAS but according to this, Russian Accords get some updates before Anderstorp WTCC race... but it doesn't mention if developments come from JAS or are made in-house.

Wasn't there something about JAS working on a works or semi-works Honda entry at some stage?

I believe that JAS discuss this way but without help from Honda it is not very realistic. The Rallye Civic is an official works car. But it is not a big step for JAS to build a s2000 Civic. I think we will see a JAS Civic. But not before 2009!

I don´t see that happening soon. I have no idea why WTCC stopped coming to Spa but it just looked like they didn´t want to run support to another event.

What I think they should do is go the Renault way if they want to go to new markets. The free World Series weekends have been a huge succes at most of the tracks. After visiting South America I think they should visit an oval in America. Most of them have really cool road courses. People then could see the whole circuit and see there´s action all through the field. Of course tickets would be free and there should be a lot of promotion.

The WTCC does need to improve its supports. IFM is great but they should have some other series. Maybe something from SEAT or BMW. People that are not familiar with the series want to see action. Not one lousy IFM race on Sunday and two short WTCC races.

Well, there is some JAS guys running around with Engström's crew at the STCC weekends, so some co-operation is definantley going on. On Australia, nope, there's no S2000 category. The Aussies only care about their V8's and the ladder system is Carrera Cup -> V8 Supercars Developement Series (Older cars) -> V8 Supercars.

I don´t think they run together anymore. I can´t get their site to work (Flash) so I can´t check the calendar. However in their gallery they only have pictures of races at Valencia and Vallelunga. Maybe they will get back to the WTCC when they run races like Monza and Oschersleben.

That would be a nice support-serie. A few years ago, at the LG-superracingweekends races of the European Alfa 147-cup and the Renault clio-cup were held. I think BTCC-racer Murray once won the Alfa cup, and Rangoni the Clio's. A Seat Supercopa would be an very nice replacement.

According to Italiaracing there'll be 2 LGT Engineering diesel powered Lexus IS in WTCC 2008 and already this season at Brands Hatch race.
