Glad that freight train of average talent at the end stopped!
Emmo, Piquet and Senna average?

Some average!

I was talking about the later ones, obviously not the earlier stream of talent from Brazil, I would have thought that was obvious!

Fittipaldi , Senna , Piquet and Pace (you forgot him ) were every bit as good as their early careers suggested . In early days there was little hype anyway , with Fittipaldi rising virtually without trace and , thanks to our vibrant F3 series then, many of us could see for ourselves just how good Piquet and Senna were from watching them for ourselves. I saw Senna in FF1600 and he was just an unknown Brazilian kid - until we saw just who good he was.

Don't forget we later had Massa, came close to winning the title in 08. Just a shame Nasr never got a long enough career to see how good he was

Remember them all getting drives with Draco, that was the production line!

So many, Da Matta, Fittipaldi, Marquez, Palhares, so so many followed the example

Or maybe we got plenty of time to see just how good he was.

He was good, but I felt he deserved more than two seasons. That's the problem when you have limited space on the grid. Just ask the Hulk

There are 3 Brazilians in my lifetime who shoukd have got to F1 but didn't.
Sandro Sala
Carcasci
Castroneves

Junqueira was more than average too.

Another vote for Sandro Sala , whom I saw race many times in the 80s . He was special . Did a lot of work on the McLaren F1 - there is a lovely Russell Bulgin story about Sala driving him to Le Mans in the F1

Don't forget Gil de Ferran, who came close to a Ligier seat in the mid 90s

There is of course Bruno Senna too, competent at least.

Yes, when paired with Maldonado, he wasnt as quick as Pastor, but was more likely to make the finish out of those two

I don't recall people thinking at the time Barrichello was a potential WDC. I think he was a pretty decent driver but never was all that consistent across a season. What I have to give him credit for was maintaining a F1 drive for nearly two decades, not many can pull that off.

The reason he was in F1 for so long was not just because he was a very good driver, if not a great one, but because he is very passionate about racing. Just what we need in the sport

Some damning with faint praise going on I think , You are an extremely gifted racing driver if you race in 140 Grands Prix , winning 13 , getting pole in 9 and racing for six different teams . The fact that there is a tiny echelon of even better ones - the Rindts , Clarks , Sennas et al- - shouldn't relegate RB to 'also ran ' status ..there are hundreds of F 1 drivers over the decades who'd give a kidney for Barrichello's results - possibly even one of their own ..
