Do you think the same about unsafe releases in the pitlane? Nothing happened, so it is OK? If not, why is that different? |

No one is necessarily to blame. For a car to snap like that because of wheel spin may be due to a glitch with the throttle, which wouldn't be Verstappen's fault. F1 cars use electronic fly-by-wire throttles and like other electronic devices they can glitch. |

A clean start apart from Vettel going off at Turn 1, but he rejoins the race.
FCY as both Sainz and Albon off, in separate incidents. Edit: Red flag. |

Race will resume in 15 minutes.
Edit: 2 minutes to go and the restart is suspended. Last edited by bjohnsonsmith; 9 Oct 2022 at 05:50. |

Radar doesn't appear to show any weakening in the rain. If it was suspended for this, I'm starting to wonder if it'll be restarted at all.

There's video doing the rounds of social media of a tractor on the side of the track as Gasly drives past. The FIA are seeking to shift the blame for the incident onto Gasly. Appalling work by the FIA.

Rain is set in, it appears. Unlikely we will go full distance, so the coronation of Max will likely have to wait another round.

I will never understand the three hour rule. Brought in to prevent another 2011 Canadian GP. It is like the rule that to stop under-18s driving to prevent another Max Verstappen. Yes, I know there are concerns about lack of light, but surely that can be under the discretion of the race director than automatically stopping after three hours every time. What was the point of not racing the last 14 laps in Monaco, for example?

I think some of the drivers are a bit optimistic. Still looks pretty tough out there to go racing.

And, for the second year running, Max Verstappen wins the championship based on the wording of the rulebook (something about the word 'resumption' meaning they get full points). Not a particularly satisfying way to win it, with Johnny Herbert telling him he is champion in an interview and him still not really believing it, but obviously he would have won it next race anyway, and that is a 100% fully-deserved title which absolutely cements his name among the greats of Formula 1 history.

Its not like WDC is only 1 race and he won that race on a technicality. You could as easily say he only won coz charles fell off. You cant pick one moment and say "they only won coz of that". Its performance all year. that wins WDC, and Max/rbr have been the class act all year. Dont be sour grapes, you sound like youre sulking CONGRATULATIONS MAX AND RED BULL They deserve the win for dominating all year. Merc built a truck instead of a car Ferrari repeatedly made terrible tactical decisions Mclaren built an average car and had one driver lost in a daze Alpine are just finding their way back The rest .. need to do some serious thinking. That was not a prescriptive comment, but rather a descriptive comment related to how someone like Stroll or Tsunoda had been considered. Unsafe releases and this kind of incidents are not really comparable, but that was not what I was commenting on. Sorry if that was unclear. |

And a little over the top on great in history. We need to see a little more with stronger competition. I don’t see that, perhaps another title where this doesn’t happen: Quote:
