Some O.E. Ford gauges were 3/8-24 UNF and others M10x1 I'm not certain which the RS2000 gauge was. The 3/8 UNF is the same thread as AN-3 so you would likely have one of these in youe aeroquip brake pipe fittings although the Ford gauge didn't have the same 37 degree sealing seat. If an AN-3 hose fitting won't quite go on then you almost definately have an M10x1 thread on the gauge. Adapting either for use wth a braided PTFE hose is fairly simple, I don't know if it is appropriate to say here (no doubt it can be moderated if in breach), but if you want to message me or give me a call at work (01327 857991) we have the necessary adaptors on the shelf and they cost very little.

Not sure if would be metric on a Mk1 Escy dash. From limited experience Ford started moving from imperial to metric on Mk2 with the Pinto engine. Great fun trying to guess which spanners will be needed on any particular part of car.....

Girling Type 14 Caliper
Whilst on the subject of Ford parts my winter project includes reinstating the correct calipers on my Elva Courier, I need a L/H 64032550 Girling Type 14 (not 14LF) brake caliper as fitted to Cortina GT, Lotus Cortina, 109E/110E/120E, TVR Grantura and some Morgans, or a pair if easier. If anyone has one or knows of one please let me know. Thanks

Iain, you should try Think Automotive in Isleworth for anything oil pipe related. That's where Burton and Demons buy from.

Yes I have, but not for sale, they're on my car!
they're scarce, mainly due to all the LC's being built! According to the club registrar there are now more Lotus Cortinas than GT's, or any other variant. |

FF use P14 but different ?
P16 are much better, P12 even rarer. I'm suprised one of the bigger prep companies haven't remade them from magnesium . . . pads are a problem as well ( ie pay through the nose or make your own. |

The P16 was widely available in 3 1/2" centres, fitted to TR4/5/6, Ford etc and the pads are readily available in just about every compound and are also fairly cost effective. So would be good option from that perspective, but possibly a bit big and heavy for an FF2000?

I haven't measured one but if P16 caliper fits, then surely an M16 (metric thread version) would as well? And they are widely available new or restored.... Morgan +4 also used P16, probably as lot of parts were TR3/4, so another possible source. M16 are fitted to Mk1 Escort RS models nowadays to replace P16...... Pads same for both types from memory. What's on your Escy, Iain? |

Winter project? How about getting a little fitter, does that count?
Taken to taking half an hours walk (Iain knows the terrain around here ) Half hour out, half back again. Walking around the garden Sunday night and heard somekind of animal in the forest opposite, Wild Boar I thought, only ever seen a dead one a few miles away. So, during the forest walk this morning not one to be seen, there were seven together around ten metres away! Fantastic to actully see genuine Wilde Schweine, not the caged kind. Anyways-enough of my ramblings, Iain, Mike is rightM16s on the bay and cheap enough-even new versions. |

Getting little bit fitter sounds a good project to me. Pity more people don't adopt it!
My main last winter's project is still lingering, but only due to waiting for a chance to test when it isn't raining! Was eyeing up last Sat but the weather Gods soon put that thought to rest.... Another pair of (adjustable spring height) front struts on the way, along with race springs. Turns out that regs for first race next season don't follow FIA AppJ, allowing quite a lot of freedom! Bits will be fitted after HTP inspection, naturally.... Still need some more RS 4 spoke wheels, flat nut seat type rather than later Capri Laser that use taper seat. Oh yes, and have to make a side exit open exhaust! In meantime have had fun today pulling the front end off my 968 Sport. Rad leaking and some work to do to get all plastic bits to fit (crap repair to a previous RHF fender bender), then will have to find someone to paint front end again. Hopefully then will be sold, along with Tango, to release funds for next project..... |

Looking good Mike-there are some RS four spokes on the capripower forum although not sure of whether taper or flat fit. Also some on ebay and think a new batch is being cast very soon.
