Francis Albert should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Formula Renault Eurocup 2007

The first official test is taking place today, in Barcelona. Here are the morning times:

1 - Henkie Waldschmidt - Prema - 1'43"839
2 - Andrea Caldarelli - Prema - 1'44"792
3 - Daniel Zampieri - Cram - 1'45"338
4 - Charles Pic - SG - 1'45"439
5 - Nelson Panciatici - SG - 1'45"497
6 - Mihai Marinescu - District - 1'45"634
7 - Jaime Alguersuari - Epsilon - 1'45"744
8 - Brendon Hartley - Epsilon - 1'45"893
9 - Felipe Lapenna - BVM Minardi - 1'46"082
10 - Oliver Oakes - Motopark - 1'46"272
11 - Sergio Campana - Cram - 1'46"306
12 - Aleix Alcaraz - District - 1'46"310
13 - Stefano Coletti - Epsilon - 1'46"350
14 - Simeon Ivanov - BVM Minardi - 1'46"620
15 - Roberto Mehri - Jenzer - 1'46"638
16 - Fabio Onidi - Motopark - 1'46"656
17 - Alexandre Marsoin - SG - 1'46"696
18 - Frank Kechele - Motopark - 1'46"947
19 - Martin Plowman - Prema - 1'47"029
20 - Fabio Leimer - Jenzer - 1'47"062
21 - Oliver Turvey - Jenzer - 1'47"095
22 - Mika Maki - Epsilon - 1'47"279
23 - Tobias Hegewald - Motopark - 1'47"404
24 - Jonathan Hirschi - Boutsen - 1'47"452
25 - Jon Lancaster - SG - 1'47"743
26 - Stephane Richelmi - Boutsen - 1'47"937
27 - Anton Nebiltskiy - SL - 1'48"037
28 - Nicola Zonzini - Cram - 1'48"052
29 - Miquel JuliĆ* - Epsilon - 1'48"188
30 - Pedro Nunes - SL - 1'50"567
31 - Pierre Preville - Omicron - 1'50"604
32 - Pablo Montilla - Epsilon - 1'51"875

It is far too early to read anything into them of course, but who do you rate as favorites for this season?

I think the Red Bull drivers should do well, but I wonder if anyone will stand out, like Albuquerque did last year. Both Hartley and Alguersuari are in their 2nd year, and Coletti, Oakes and Maki all did quite well in the FR races they did last season.

Waldschmidt and Plowman, also in their 2nd year, should also be fast for Prema.

I'm curious about how Marinescu will do. He had some interesting results in the 2nd half of the NEC and Italian championships last year, as well as in the winter tests.

Oliver Turvey should do well with Jenzer if his racing results up to now are anything to go by. Oakes has acclimatised very quickly, i want to see him race against his brother in FR!

looking at the time difference in the times, and the rest of the differences, i'd say that's a strong possibility!

isn't the guy who was top of the afternoon sessions one of flavio's new boys on the rdd scheme?

As I already mentioned time ago my "guess" was between 3 and 5 tenth now I understand that in Brands they were almost a second faster than the lap record...I believe this is too much or eventually due to peculiar track conditions (was it modified??) I remain with the idea that my original thinking was correct.

Tell me about it! I was the observer at the Old Hairpin on Sunday, and in all the years I have been marshalling, the Eurocup F/Renault drivers have always been enveloped by the ''red mist''. The last two years on their visit to Donongton have produced similar incidents. Still, it adds to the entertainment.

Opportune time tio ressurect this thread. Well done folks!

It certainly was a demolition derby on Sunday wasn't it.

Lucky someone wasn't seriously injured, but saturday afternoon's race was much better behaved, although admittedly I was spectating at a different part of the circuit to where the mayhem happened on sunday so perhaps I can't really compare!

As I mentioned in the main thread, Lancaster and Hartley were impressive as gomick rightly says but the guy who seemed to be doing most of the hardwork (I.E overtaking) was the guy in no. 8 Hegewald is it?

Looked a real fiesty racer!

Full marks to everyone involved with sweeping up after the young gentlemen last Sunday...

I'm sure most of you appreciated Alvaro Parente's personal tour of all your marshals' posts... I assume to say thanks first-hand

Yeah, heard on the commentary that 2 cars flipped on 2 starts. I was in the grandstand on the start/finish straight and the safety car picked them up, but obviously with 36 drivers some didn't seem to notice and about 5 or 6 cars crashed into the back of one another, out came the red flags!

And I still can't help but notice the shocking results of the Prema Powerteam and Toyota F1 Juniors Plowman and Waldschmidt. What's going on with them??

Hmmm, i'm quite interested in this Hegewald driver. He looked pretty handy at Donny coming back through the field - good racecraft.

As someone not in the know about this particular series, how has Tobias done this season? Is he regular front runner, or is he still developing?

Hegewald hasn't done so well in Eurocup, but he's been flying in the NEC (German/Dutch etc) series, where he's currently 2nd behind Frank Kechele.
