Belmondo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ah, I missed that one. There was another Finals meeting circa 2015 where just about everyone spun at Becketts during practice. Not wet, just some mysterious greasy track condition.

Not sure the exact year but pretty certain that the AMOC St John Horsfall meeting was cancelled due to very heavy rain some years ago - possibly the 50th Anniv. of AMOC meeting?

Great shame for our FISCAR guys last Sunday; we had some great entries.

Incidentally, love Belmondo's first shot in post 72 - some rare stuff there - what appears to be a Shapecraft Elan, Sabre 6 GT and a pair of SLRs - dear old Mike Bell would have loved those.

20th October 2015, HSCC... I remember it well. I was out in the Historic Road Sports practise in the Chev Camaro. As I came up to Becketts on the out lap, it was if someone had let off a firecracker in the middle of a flock of seagulls - cars off everywhere. I think what lulled HRS competitors was that there was a fair amount of grip in the Becketts braking area, and none whatsoever thereafter. The Chev, at 1400kg, was brilliant, gentle throttle and once completely straightened up - full throttle and tons of traction. My best-ever grid position ! Being fair, it had been a fairly wet season and I had had plenty of Chevy-in-the-wet practise.

If you can play with a GTA in the wet its a good training to drive a Camaro or Corvette…

G, you are right. Before I bought the Chevy I had been racing my GTA for 10 years.... quite nervy in the wet, but nothing like as tricky as a Lotus Elan in the same conditions. I was told that Mustangs can be a bit of a handful on a damp track....

Not quite a replacement for the Autumn Classic but the extra CSCC meeting on 24th October is shaping up well with some large and varied grids.
