Indy is in May w/Indycar. Replaces the Brazil race for them.

Neither is a Corvette.
The ALMS GTLM is built by Pratt & Miller - not Chevrolet.

The ALMS GTLM Viper is built by Riley.

The wide bodywork on the GTLM Corvette is purpose-built for racing and, therefore, isn't any more production "Corvette" than the bodywork on a Corvette DP.

They start out life as factory frames, and to put wide body work on a corvette you have to have a CORVETTE!

Hopefully it will be in a competitive package. Good for the class if this happens.
I'd expect to see Michael Shank as the first customer.

You know there are a couple people here who alwaqys have to attack everything ALMS and promote everything Rolex. can we please stop? can simple factual discussions not entertain us sufficiently, that everything has to be a petty p1$$ing match? It gets old.

If the facts annoy some folks, those folks need to get a grip.

DPs are not evil---they are much slower than P2 and PC.

P2 and PC are Not open classes. GTE Vettes are CORVETTES and lying doesn't change that. "Corvette" DPs are just names.

That's fine. A prototype doesn't need to be a production car, and a GT does.

I am enjoying the Rolex race as I type this. And I don't have to attack anybody to do so.

You seem to forget that the GTLM Corvettes begin with the exact same perimeter frame as the production car.
They are Corvettes, moderately modified for racing. The bodywork is one of these modifications.

The "Corvette" DP is a Riley, Dallara, or Coyote, depending on which car they've slapped the body work onto. These cars were never Corvettes, and no amount of decorating will change that.

I haven't heard anything on Road America for 2014 lately. Has anyone heard anything about whether it's on the schedule or not?

If it's not, I fully and utterly resign from all forms of USCR racing.

If Long Beach is GT only then it will make it more likely for me to travel to California to go see it. While I'll skip the Detroit race altogether even on TV.

Same here. I'm not really interested in watching a prototype-only race.

The ALMS GT Corvette is purpose-built from the frame out by Pratt & Miller - not the factory - to be a racecar. Having a stock frame doesn't change that.

Also, the ALMS GT Corvette does not have a "modified Corvette" body. It has a body designed and built by Pratt & Miller specifically for racing.

The ALMS GT Corvette is not a production car.

Instead, it is a "production-based" racecar.

There's a big difference.

Cool, so a corvette is a corvette unless it's not and the wrong people touched it.

Let's move on, what a "real"corvette is matters little in the discussion of uscr entry lists.

long beach would be awesome as gt only, p2s and pcs just get in the way there and cause cautions.plus with dps it would just turn into a two hour parade. still no word about laguna.......

Judging by Scott Pruett's Twitter and Instagram Ganassi will be running HPD cars next year.

GTLM Am for enduros could open the door for Euro teams to race at Dayton and Sebring. Also it could appeal to Flying Lizard and even Stevenson motorsports because there will be old C6R's available.
